Welcome to Renaissance, the game all about medieval combat!

I decided I'm gonna make a game around Medieval Combat. Yes, you will get to use weapons like swords, knives, and axes. But there is also a bit of magic, and tech in it as well. From explosives, to electricity, to medicine. All of which can help your team defeat the other. The game is a 10 vs 10 team death-match. Maps are in creation. Got any idea's? Post below! TL;DR at the bottom.

Classes/Characters:

-Knight-
With a sword specially designed for him, none shall stand in his path. He also carries with him a dagger, and crossbow, allowing him to attack from multiple distances.

-Druid-
Blessed with his power to heal, he uses his powers to heal is comrades. He carries with him four bottle of medicine, and a spear, if anyone dares get in his way.

-Scout-
Although his largest weapon is a small spiked bat, he can still pack a lot of punches. Along with this, he carries throwing knifes, and his spiked arm bracer.

-Vanguard-
He chose his powerful axe, over a fast weapon, and he doesn't regret it. Alongside this, he carries a battle hammer, and a large sword.

-Wizard-
Known for his power of lightning, many fear him, even his team mates. With this, he carries a wand to conduct spells, and a staff to summon lightning.

-Inventor-
Crafting all his teams weapons from a hand and a hook, makes him tired. Although, he does fight alongside them with his saw, and what he seems to call 'explosives".

-Archer-
Skilled with a bow, he can use it for strong, or repeating attacks. He also carries his ancestors blade, and a long sword.

-Warrior-
He knows how to use two sword at once, making him twice as deadly. He carries an axe to chop, and a few bear traps to trap any who sneak up on him.

-Musketeer-
Master in the art of fencing, he brings his best blade to the table. Along with him he carries a flintlock pistol, and a dagger.

-Foreigner-
Travelling the globe, he has mastered many foreign weapons. He carries his bronze kopesh, his chakram, and his dual sai.

-Troll-
An unlikely addition to the group, but a valuable one . He carries a pick-axe, a wooden club, and his cherished sword.

-Assassin-
The stealthiest of this bunch, he has the power to turn invisible for short lengths of time. He also has a hand held crossbow, and a knife surprise up his sleeve.

-Prince-
Royalty doesn't like to fight, but this one loves to use his sword. He carries a small flaming crossbow, and a war hammer.

-Farmer-
Hungry from month's without food, he'll fight with his rusty sword if he has to. He also has a pitchfork, and an old nail board from his barn.

-Executioner-
Using an axe everyday is too easy, so he wants to see a real challenge. He carries with him a dragon slaying sword, and a big ol' mace.

-Reaper-
You'd think he's evil, but get past his bad side, and he'll help. He uses his scythe, a dark sword, and a nice big halberd.

--------------------------------------------------------

TL;DR: Go back up, and read it. Seriously.

These are just about the most medieval fighters I could come up with. The only other person would be a Priest, but I can't think of attacks. I'd be working on this right now if ROBLOX Studio ran on more than 12 fps.

Anyway, from here on out I'll be posting some map types, what they'll look like, etc...
Want a look at the game? Here:

If you want this game soon, then tough! I need a good scripter, and those are hard to come by. Building can be done when ROBLOX makes studio run faster than a 1990's computer.

That's it for now...

Meh, seems like a good concept. But if you're going to call it "Renaissance", keep in mind, there were not many large-scale battles besides the odd despute. Go to the French Revolution (calling the game Revolution), as it is much more war-prone.

Not to mention map ideas are pretty much given to you.
-France streets
-Palace of Versailles
-Bastille courtyard
-Gardens of Versailles

The list goes on.

Revolution seems like another fairly accurate name for this. However when I hear revolution, I think of the American Revolution. Also some of these characters are from way before any of the important revolutions ever happened.

Although, some of the map ideas you gave were fairly interesting. They would suit the Musketeer, Knight, and Prince fairly well. That being said, I might make 16 maps, 1 for each character. Thanks for the feedback.

such as elephants, quoits, turtle-ships, katanas, etc?

Foreigner class is there. It's as much as I'm willing to put in. Plus, 16 characters is enough.

I might make some classes be purchasable through game passes when it gets through Beta phase. Alpha phase was a while back, when I was still working on everything.

If classes should ever cost something, it will be cheap, like 10 Robux per pair of classes. You will find out pairs in the next post.

After a little bit of thought, I've decided to release what the opposite classes are. I have also decided, 6 characters will require a small purchase in order to play. Anyway, here is the pairs:

-Knight and Warrior-

These two can hardly stand each other. If it wasn't for the opposing side they'd be fighting each other.

-Wizard and Druid-

Neither can decide who's power is greater. So they agreed to a tie, and use their powers together.

-Vanguard and Scout-

Fast or Strong? A real question when it comes to these two. Both, however, is the best choice.

-Musketeer and Archer-

Weapons with the longest range, they frequently have contests to see who's better.

-Inventor and Foreigner-

They aren't very opposite, but when it comes down to it, their some of the strangest in this bunch.

--From here on out you must buy a game pass for each pair of characters.--

-Troll and Assassin-

Both outcasts, and like different fighting techniques. Stealth or brute force?

-Prince and Farmer-

Rags and riches. These two are just about fed up with each other.

-Executioner and Reaper-

Hard to tell which is more evil. The one that enjoys your death, or the one that causes it.

--No more classes--

Maps will be revealed later. Construction has to be done on them, and I still need and experienced scripter, and gui maker. I have gui design ready, and I'll be posting up what it will be like. Oh, and one more thing. Only at a certain point will classes cost money. So don't worry for now!

Taking back what I said in my previous post, I have come up with 2 new classes. Now numbering up to 20 different classes, I am fairly certain there won't be anymore. So, I am very proud to introduce to you, the two new classes!

-Guard-

Protector of the people, using his sword to stop any who wish to inflict harm. Along with his sword, he carries a long spear, and a hand-cannon customized to look like a dragon.

-Chemist-

Using his many chemicals, he's created a makeshift flamethrower. Also carrying throw-able potions, and strange goo to slow his enemies, he will be a tough opponent.

Want a closer look at these many weapons, and trinkets? Then go look in the link below to get a real good look before it's gone.

Oh, and because of studio's lag, and the fact I cannot find a scripter, this won't be coming out any time soon. However, if you're a good scripter, and wish to help me, post below. I can guarantee you won't regret it. So, that's it for now.

Slight miscalculation in my last post. There are 18, but now there are 20. Yes, I have 2 final characters for you. I'll assure these are the last two, and I (probably) won't lie to you anymore. Anyway, time for the Conquistador, and the Ranger to take the show.

-Conquistador-
Conquering empires, and sailing the seas can be wary on a fighter. However, he wants to fight with this group with his cutlass, boarding axe, and powerful blunderbuss.

-Ranger-
Normally hunting animals, he now helps the group fight, well, just about anything. He hunts his prey with his short sword, throwing knives, and hunting bow.

---------------
I've changed a few more things since last time. Scout class now just carries normal knives, instead of throwing ones. Foreigner is now opposite to the Conquistador, and the Ranger is opposite to the Inventor. I also got some map ideas.

----------------

-Battlefield-
An average battlefield with two sides. Will be classic, and only map for beta.

-The Wall-
Each team starts at opposing towers, and can run across the castle wall, inside, or next to it.

-Overseas-
Each team starts on 1/2 ships. There are rafts, and planks boarding across.

-Central Square-
Each team starts at opposing side of the town square.

-Wilderness-
Both teams starts at log cabins, and fight through the dense forest.

-Royal-
Inside the castle, deep in the throne room. Both teams start at opposite end of the throne room.

-Crater-
Both sides must run into a deep crater, where neither has upper ground.

-Tunnels-
Fight leads to a deep underground map.

-Deserted-
A small town that is in the middle of nowhere.

-Raid-
Small village that's been raided by Vikings. 1 team starts on ship, other in village.

-Fortress-
Small blimp facing the cliff side of a fortress. 1 team on blimp, other on fortress. Planks, sails, and nets connection.

-Bridge-
Town divided in half by a river, with 3 bridges, and a few boats connecting the sides.

what about exotic foreign places such as an east asian jungle, an african savannah, or a mesoamerican rainforest? those would be much more fascinating for the classes in which you are doing...

There may be a jungle map. I doubt any of these classes would be on the home-front. Anyways, I have made a few adjustments to my last post. Conquistador doesn't seem like a suitable name for the weapons, so I'm changing it to Privateer or Pirate. I'll most likely decide later.

Sorry the game has been down for a bit. I have now re-opened it, and will be adding the two classes for viewing purposes. Without a scripter, I cannot do very much on this game. If you know one, or are one, please post below. I need almost all the help I can get.

Is this game going to be first person or with no restrictions on camera?

I hope the melee fighting will be smooth, unlike the combat in "Sword Fights on the Heights", because that combat is very outdated and unrealistic.
To be precise, I'm referring to the "wiggle to win" default mechanic on swords. the more you wiggle the sword in the enemy the more continuous damage it deals.

Could you tell us more about the combat?

The combat is similar to SFOTH, except there are some smooth weapons, and many strategies. The weapons are based on a scale of their damage. Each class has 3 weapons which are a primary, secondary, and a special. Each class has their own little strategy to them.

If say, I use the Archer class, I should be trying to shoot the other team from a distance, not run in with my sword. This is because my bow is better than my swords, judging by my class. However, if I use the Knight, I'd be better of with a sword, because my other weapons won't be as good.

Perhaps, the most important thing is that you assist your team. All of these classes have a way to help your squad. Whether they are sword fighting the enemy, healing the injured, sneaking in and out of territory, sniping from across the map, or causing distractions, they all pitch in to achieve victory. Although all characters have their own individual strategy, they all use teamwork to achieve their goal of victory.

--------

The Conquistador has been changed after much thought. It is now known as the Pirate. If you have a map idea -RELEVANT- to these characters, or this game, feel free to post it below. If you want to build one(which I would enjoy very much), then send me the link of it. You will be given FULL credit, and bragging rights.

If you want to know something cool, I could imagine this being a video game for a console. Story mode, 4 player PVP, and huge online battles of giant teams. Interesting, huh? I'd buy it. Anyway, I'll be updating the game here:

Sounds like you are making a MOBA type game. How and when do people choose their class and at what point can they switch?

When you join a game, it can be one of two situations. Either everyone's in a lobby waiting for the start of a game, or currently in the game. When the game starts, or the game ends, and the next starts, the following happens.

You spawn in a class select area, not on the map. It presents you with a gui with all the classes listed on the left. It shows all the things about the class on the right. To select the class, you click a gui button at the bottom. Some classes may cost a couple robux(unsure) in the finished version, but that's unimportant.

You would play at the map that was randomly selected, and play to the end. If you were to die somehow, you would respawn in a spawn area(not on map), and you would get to select a class again. You would then spawn into the map at your teams spawn point, and continue to fight.

Whichever team gets the most KOs by the end of 5 minutes wins the match. Fairly simplistic, but with a few twists here and there, making the game more interesting.

Yes, it does seem quite simple. How about you add some game modes with objectives? like "Defend the castle" where there are multiple stages that the opponents have to break through to win the match (tower, main gate, castle. with spawn points near each objective).

Will there be any progression in the game? Levels, better equipment, unlocking new classes as you gain points? As it is, it seems too simple with not much reason for the player to stick around after all the classes have been tested.
