try ubuntu or linux mint then.
ive never ever ever ever had a problem installing linux even on old and weird hardware.

I tried installing Ubuntu. My laptop is about capable of running it, but I don't know how to install it exactly. |

uhh when did you try installing it?
because it's like super easy
put disk in
boot into live mode
double click install boom.

there are games for linux?
yes
alot of indie ones and steam came to linux plus valve is porting all of their games.

press like f1 or del at startup or something.. it should tell you
what type of computer do you have i can look it up for you |

some of them are pretty good.
and i already said, steam is on linux and valve almost has all their games ported so yes there is tripple A games on linux

linux doesn't have enough games and support for it to be a viable gaming OS
pretty good for everything else though |

Put the ubuntu cd in
ESC or F10 key while the Gateway screen is displayed
find something called boot menu or something and select dvd or something like that.
