I'm running Debian Wheezy, but under KDE since GNOME 3 is terrible. If you're just starting out install Ubuntu first, it's more user-friendly.

Kali, Debian, and OpenSuse on my laptop, not to mention I run it on my RPi, MK802, PengPod, and in a VM on my GS3.

I used to choose Fedora over Debian because it has better GNOME 3 support, but now that Debian supports it pretty well, I guess I'll install Debian instead of Fedora when I get the time to do it.

I installed Linux, used GNOME for like 30 minutes and then looked for an alternative. It's just so Mac-esque and annoying that I can't deal with it: at least GNOME 2 is semi-usable. Like how 80% of the header with the time is just empty space, it doesn't have a task bar, the whole corner-to-find-apps is weird, etc.

After running Gentoo, Debian, Ubuntu, and Fedora all for a couple months each as a secondary operating system, I really like Fedora the most.

@RenderSettings
I've used GNOME 3 on Fedora for a while and I am really pleased with it. I really don't want to start a debate about it, however (I've already seen many more debates about this than you could imagine). I much rather have a weird interface but that is actually efficient and presents me with a clear view of applications and windows than have an interface full of menus that never end where I have to search for hours and hours to find an application. But you may perfectly prefer menus if you want to.

I enjoy the way both Debian and Ubuntu work. I use both as well as backtrack for other tasks. GNOME I dislike immensely though. I have not tried fedora recently.

Windows is to Linux as iOS is to Android(to an extent) - Windows stereotypes what you want(e.g. no curvy task bar, few settings) while Linux is harder to get used to in exchange for a LOT of customizability.

Windows provides a clean and easy interface, whereas Linux, even Ubuntu, is much more complex to the average user. That's why it is so popular.
