| I, personally, started because of the Lua on Roblox. Instead of learning that though, I decided to learn HTML/CSS. I also learned first from CodeAcademy, which is very basic, and a book I bought from Barnes and Noble. |

Saw a random tutorial on VB Studio on youtube when I was 7. Figured out how to pirate it a year later. Had some fun with that. Found out about roblox. Had a lot of fun. |

I download DevC++ thinking I could hack with it at age 11. I then started making cool animations in OpenGL which somehow led me to find C#, my favorite and strongest language.

I wanted to create video games when I was a kid, so I bought a bunch of books, learned Java, then eventually C++, and found ROBLOX one day while browsing newgrounds.
I checked it out and had a lot of fun. |

Found Roblox, found out about Lua, couldn't learn Lua, told to try learning C++ first, fail, go back to Lua, learn Lua, go back to C++, learn C++, found out I knew nothing about C++, learn C++, still hardly know anything, learn it again, feel like I know C++, I don't.
Also, there were things about Javascript and JQuery in there too. Also, I know C in a marginal way, since C++ is marginally C.
#include [stdio.h] //pretend it's > and <
int main(void){ printf("Hello, World!") return 0; }
Compiles in both C and C++, I believe.

For some reason I can actually remember the day I wanted to start learning to code. I had recently found Roblox, had simply been building for close to a year, then got a bright idea to make Nacht der Untoten because I was tired of the frikkin house thingy. I got to the point where I wanted the zombies to break through the windows and give you points when you died. Well, the zombies DIDN'T do either of those things, so I started reading those little things we call Scripts and realized basically how they worked, asked my dad if he understood them (which he really didn't, he did more web languages) and decided to just go to a new place and start inserting a bunch of free models to read their code and teach myself RBX.Lua, spent a few months doing that until I finally got the basics, years and years later I'm here on a completely random new account tearing apart the many function environments and creating random pieces of nothing in RBX.Lua, exploring other languages (to no avail, I currently have no inspiration or use for them... Gonna be taking Java courses this next year and a whole game developing class the year after) and just doing crap.
There's my scripting/programming history in a nut shell. I left out all the fun stuff, but since when is fun important?

I started with Lua on Roblox. Then freshman year of high school I took a Computer Programming Class, which taught VB6. My sophomore year (current) I took CP2 and we used VB.Net.
Between now and then I also learned C++, Java, HTML/CSS/JS/jQuery, and Python. |

| Well, i used a program (i don't remember the name). Then, a long, long time later, i came to ROBLOX and was a normal player. But after time i found out there was something called ROBLOX Studio. I looked into it. I discovered that it's the REAL way to make games. As time went on, i got even more experienced with it. I knew i had a problem. All i could do is build with bricks and experiment with hinges and gravity. I went on to the wiki. I did do some scripting but it did not turn out well. I wasn't really learning everything. After that, about half a year later, i was tired, i looked up "scripting lessons" and there it was. I learned fast and i loved learning, there were some hard parts but i overcame them, i finished it, it wasn't really finished so i moved back to the wiki. Now i finally understand the wiki and RBX Lua even more. I am still only a rookie. But in the future, i will script anything i can with RBX Lua and move on to learning Java, i would still do RBX Lua, but i would just do java as well. I hope that's enough information for you. |

1) Lua 2) Scratch (because boredom is bored.) 3) Batch (because @ECHO OFF) 4) Python - I got as far as the syntax, never actually went in-depth with it. |

| Started with RBX.Lua when I was 12-13. Attempted C++ when I was 13/14, failed, gave up. Started Java when 15, then C# and C++ (a bit, not good at it + don't like it) when I was 16. At school, made to do VB.NET(Hate. It. So. Much.). Also done Python, JS, HTML and CSS at Codecademy, and of course, Moonscript<3<3 |

@cntkillme So you basically the only programming languages you learned we VB, Lua, Java, and Python. I don't really consider JavaScript or PHP programming languages because they're primarily web-based. The rest you listed are just markup languages.

How does one properly learn web languages? To me it seems like you need to get a server plus domain to do anything proper, and learn 50 3rd party server tools to run all dem server side languages.
Hiw did you guys learn the web languages? Would like to mess with them but seems complicated to get started. |

Errm, view source and try it on your own. At first, it works and you're like: "OMG IDK WHAT THIS MEANS AND IT WORKS." Then overtime, you start to realize what each one does.

@radio
HTML doesn't need anything other than a web browser.
You can open HTM/HTML files with browsers. JS can also be done in most browsers such as Chrome.
I believe Chrome comes with a built in PHP interpreter so you can open PHP files with Chrome. |

| My cousin is a professional game programmer. (He can do web programming but he prefers game programming.) I was talking to him earlier this year and it sounded like fun so I started learning Python. I know Python completely. I am learning HTML and LUA. (I plan on learning RBX.lua) |

You're learning Licking Under Armpits?
Or Lua?
Lua is Moon in portuguese, after the language 'Sol' - Sun in portuguese. That's why you don't get them mixed up. |
