Contains all you need to know about scripting, although I don't use it.

That doesn't mean you know the script.
Post it word for word here, and I'll tell you if it's incorrect. |

| If I were you I wouldn't want to learn lua, I would learn something like PHP, Python, Ruby, HTML, or Java, but its up too you. |

@Bruce
This isn't Lua. It's ROBLOX Lua. There's a huge difference.
I have the Programming in Lua: Third Edition by Roberto Ierusalimschy, and it's almost nothing like ROBLOX Lua. |

| I honestly like Roblox Lua more than pure Lua. |

So do I.
But normal Lua is more function-able. |

| @Stephen: Not really. Vanilla Lua on it's own can't do that much. Well, it can be useful if you wanna right a quick program to do something with the files on your computer, but other than that you need an embedded environment to run it in. |

| Yeah it is. I wonder if io.read() is available in Roblox Lua. |

@dr01d3k4
What I meant is you can just program:
>a = io.read()
>print (a)
But, in ROBLOX Lua, you would have to make a Gui and make it print what's typed in to the Output. That's way more difficult. |

Yeah its suppose to mock you forever.
This is a another script i wrote that finds the Surface Area of a Cylinder:
while true do
print("Cylinder's SA calculator ready!")
print("Say start")
local t = io.read()
if t == "start" then
print("Please type the radius of the cylinder.")
local r = io.read()
print("Please type the height of the cylinder.")
local h = io.read()
local rh = 2*3.14*r*r+2*3.14*r*h
print("The SA of the cylinder is "..rh)
else if t~="" then
print("Error")
end
end |
