Heyo,

It's John Shedletsky, from ROBLOX.

Dave (our CEO) and I were talking the other day about things we might change or add to ROBLOX to make it more friendly to top developers such as yourselves. We figured the best way to find out what people want is to just ask them. So here's my question: you're already the best of the best. You're cranking out popular games, have a large following of users, and are making ROBUX through the sale of game passes. What top 3 things could ROBLOX do as a company to help you make your games even better?

Everything is on the table: website features, studio features, game features, translating the site into Klingon, etc.

If you take the time to write a detailed response, I'll guarantee that the CEO of ROBLOX will read what you have to say, and he and I will discuss it. I'm working on compiling a giant document of what the most-asked for features are.

3) Preset gamepass pictures like vip, and admin. To use one of these, you click a dropdown box below the area where you upload a picture, then pick a picture and it'll show a preview.

@first two posters: Stop spamming.

@Shed I have an idea about teleporters. Imagine if you could bring vehicles, tools, weapons, etc. through teleporters into other games. It would allow people to make second parts of games and allow them to have the same tools as before.
And to stop abuse with this, the games could have some sort of access service that chooses what is allowed through teleporters.

1. Remember featherweight parts? Make another anti-lag addition to the game.

2. Blog-Up make MORE effort and more updates on the blog.

3. Dynamic backgrounds, what I mean is allow the backgrounds to have animation or a gif image or something like that.

1: make the game load like minecraft (it will lag a WHOLE lot less)

2: add a teleporter (place one down then another to teleport to there)

3: add a list of commands (at the bottom it says Command:)

Hello ROBLOX!

After a while of thinking about what could go on this list, I have come up with some ideas. Here they are (in no paticular order):

1) ROBLOX could configure something so if you buy a gear from under a game thumbnail, you could somehow get some sort of V.I.P that the game creator could edit.

2) An option that an opinion on the game can be posted. You should only be able to vote once a month. e.g. When you come to comment on the game, there is a + (positive feedback) or - (negitive feedback). But, like always, there a pros and cons:

PROS:

+ Creator can have a quick glance at whether the game is good or bad.
+ This might help get rid of 'fake' games.

CONS:

- ROBLOXians might be jealous of someone's building skills and decide to vote the game as negitive. (Can be abused)
- May cause more on-site lag due to extra features(?)

3) A 'C' next to the creator's name. There is a 'R' next to a ROBLOX moderator (people like stickmasterluke, shedletsky, ROBLOX etc.) and there is a builder's club hard hat next to a BC member. As far as I know, this can't be scripted, (but I may be wrong.)

Hope you consider these points!

-Multiplayer studio,
Being able to both be in studio (Build mode only, not edit mode) in the same place. You can chat, and you can see everything you can see in the normal studio as well (Tool bars, Explorer etc.)
Plugins will not be able to use.
#How this gets together,
In studio, you can invite someone to join you to build in his first game, in Studio mode.
You can insert anything, build resize change grids, you practically can do anything you usually can do in the normal studio build mode.
When done with building, the owner can save the changes and end the game, kicking both users from the game.

This would be very useful to teach other users to use Studio, and also would be useful to create a
map, for instance.
I hope it will get added.

Perhaps you could create a "proper" Tutorial in Studio that teaching you how to do certain stuff in a pre-set place.
It could include stuff like:
*How to place and edit the properties of Parts
*How to group Parts into Models
*To to publish your model to the Free Models section
*How to use the Terrain Feature
*How to Publish your Place to your Profile
*How to use the Dynamic Lights feature

I can't think of any more thinks off the top of my head. D:

Yeah, I like it!

However, when you come to save your work, you could have an option which says:

Save Your Work

Save All Work

Cancel

Then if you build something and someone else mass-clones bricks you could just save this work.

Filter updates:

How about some filter updates, like phrase-based filters for comments and forum posts to cut down on spam of "Post this on X items to get X R$/Tix?"
It would leave room for more legitimate comments, allowing one to gain an accurate review of a game.

Also, some updates on the in-game filter and forum to block things that are truly offensive, such as swearing, but not block things like bits of code that we may need someone to help us debug?

Website place-based updates:

Line-graph similar to the RAP graph to show how many people visited each day.
It can help us decide which updates were more successful, which advertisements were, and even if we need to release a new update soon.

Can I just pretend I'm famous and get my two cents in? There are a lot of additions I'd like to see, although it's hard to think of all of them at once.

First and foremost, CUSTOM CHARACTER ANIMATIONS. Some Lua wizards have managed to create custom animations already, but for the less gifted we need a system to make animations.

After that I'd like to see MULTIPLAYER STUDIO. There are a lot of difficulties with this, I understand, but it still would be an amazing feature. You would have to figure out a way to show who was editing what part and implement a chat system in this studio, but it would increase user collaboration on games. More content and more awesome stuff for us to play and create.

Third and finally, SERVER GLOBALIZATION. By server globalization, I mean global variables across all servers in a game, single player servers, custom server types (ex: single/multiplayer or different game maps) and quick transfers between these servers, and communication between games, similar to that universe thingy you told us about years ago in a blog post.
