So the GUI chat bar has been around since I don't know when, but I know it's been on Mac OS X for quite a while, and now a good number of Windows users have it.
I noticed a problem when testing some of my stuff, though, where if you're typing in the chat, keyboard/mouse events are still called. You'd probably guess this is a problem in some games.
Would be nice to see this addressed. |

| Yes, this new chat bar sounds all wrong and no right. However, it seems more and more machines are getting infected with this crap Roblox is putting out. |

I have been told that renaming the RobloxPlayer.exe file to RobloxPlayerBeta will fix the problem, but I am not having much success.
Oh, and, reported for spam. |

@coplox
It's concerning for people whose games utilize a good amount of keyboard input (i.e. [R] for reloading, [Shift] for sprinting, etc.), and games that use custom movement systems. |

Well I'm not sure if this is the exact case, but I don't seem to encounter this problem (or so it seems) as I mainly chat using the '/' key. Not entirely sure though, never tested if keyboard/mouse events still register while typing.

I've had the same issue in my games too, and Mac OS has had it for several months now.
I'd hope there's an easy way to fix it for _all_ textboxs, not just this one, perhaps some property, or some method that we can use versus just disallowing key-ins when typing in the textbox...

Actually, coplox's right. Just run RobloxPlayer.exe and select your game, it won't load that Beta player. I hope they won't remove completly the old player, like the old studio D:

Yeah...
That chat-bar is pretty bad.
In a game I was playing, the "k" key was used to reset. I was wondering why I kept dying, until I noticed why my menus were popping up, and my character kept entering weird stances while I was typing.

@nairod
Never said he was wrong, I'm just saying that your average player probably won't know what's going on or how to fix it, and they'll just get confused and leave. |

If key input is still being read even when you are chatting, then it might be possible now to detect when the '/' key is pressed, and then use a bool value to enable key input.
And that's fine, and all, but I still want to go kill a dragon. |

| Why can't they just make new events to detect when the Player is Chatting and when the Player is not Chatting? |

@X, I was thinking a similar thing. It's simple for us to fix if there is any way to detect when the player "starts" chatting.
Glad to hear it's on the top of their list, though...

I don't think pasting a 5000 character text into chat is necessary for any reason. 1000 characters is fine. The fix for the key input going through chat is bad and will be fixed.
I will see what I can do about the copy pasta problem.

| You pretty much killed all Script Builders then. At least unlock InsertService to let servers load uncopylocked models, since isn't exploitable as long as you still lock it from clients. |

| You're just going to break literally thousands of scripts because you see something as "unnecessary"? What are you even doing down there in California? |

"At least unlock InsertService to let servers load uncopylocked models, since isn't exploitable as long as you still lock it from clients."
There's really no reason to allow it: if a creator isn't aware of the existence of a model, then it shouldn't be in his place, and if he is, then he can just take it.
