<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<-Introduction->>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Training seems to currently be an integral part of any group. But I've been wondering lately, does it really have as much of an impact as people say it does? I'll split my talk into the various sections that make up training for most groups.
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<-Obstacle Courses->>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> This is probably the most common element of any training course is an obstacle course. It generally incorporates a combination of pillar jumping and tight rope walking. Several years ago, obstacle courses were common ways in which you could get into a enemy's fort. However, the decline of these sorts of fort obbies has lead me to wonder, what true use does this obstacle course training have?
Pros: Seems to increase the agility of a trainee. Prepares him/her for older forts.
Cons: Takes away a lot of the time from a training session. Can be a frustrating process.
Overall, I would say that obstacle courses are a necessary part of training, but it may be worth considering if your group should create a practice course so that the trainee can work on his own time rather then take up valuable group training.
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<-Loyalty/Obedience Training->>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> I'm not going to try to be un-biased about this one. I attended several trainings when preparing for this post, and I was alarmed to find myself playing a game of Simon Says. Obedience Training seems to be a very common part of training sessions, but one I see as being unnecessary.
Pros: Obedience on the field is an important skill.
Cons: It's probably attempting to teach something that can't be taught. Following trainer orders during the rest of the session will get your obedience training without a special section devoted to it.
Overall, this part of training is completely unnecessary and should be treated as such.
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<-Sword Fights->>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> This may tie with the obstacle course for the most common training element. It usually involves a square arena. It may be either a free-for-all or a team battle, as chosen by the trainer.
Pros: Sword fighting is very important part of many games. Fighting friends and training there may be easier then learning by yourself. The trainer can often instill certain sword fighting skills that would take a long time on your own to learn.
Cons: Since many games implement sword fighting, maybe playing games could be better then training.
Overall, this is a necessity of training and should be focused on by your trainer.
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<-Gun Fights->>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Rather self explanatory, I cut right to the chase with this one.
Pros: Gains familiarity with your group's weapons. Allows the trainer to show tips and tricks of gun fighting.
Cons: Gun fighting is all about reflex, which can't really be taught by a trainer. Guns are in so many forts that simply doing a casual raid could greatly improve a trainee's skills.
Overall, personal discretion should be used when staging gun fights.
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<-Summary->>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> When hosting your training session, be sure to keep in mind what parts are really necessary, and what parts could be cut out. Remember, a trainee should be encouraged to train himself on his own time, don't do it all for him. Leave out what he can learn himself.

| I have to agree that the ending doesn't fit the rest of the post. I really couldn't think how to end it. Perhaps I should have simply removed that line and used the summary as the ending. Oh well. |

I'm not sure he was saying the end was bad.. I'd prefer not to say what he said; as I believe it was highly un-called for and a stupid response.

| @Phiction, My suspicion is this forum is filled with trolls mostly, and that the grammar in my post scared them. |

| I do agree with this, most training is unneeded and doesn't help. Instead it should be changed to things that can actually be taught, or do help with raids etc. |

thats why i like wij battleground trainings you just fight and use terrain/guns that would be in wij bases, that way you have a ton more experience than any common raider at indigo |

I can agree, but trainings CAN be held in a proper way: Only if the trainer is willing to push that effort.

^ @ ladymoo for example when I host trainings I point out what people are doing that makes them lose/die, and then work with them until they improve that's why I like smaller trainings, big trainings are good for giving everyone experience and determining who's more useful if i ever need to decide who to help hold something in a base or w.e too |
