The Siege of Sarajevo is entering it's first day. You are a twenty two year old Bosnian Serb living in Sarajevo. Your mother is currently in Serbia being treated in a hospital so you live alone.
How will you survive the war, what side will you join?
--- EPISODE 1: May we have peace?
5 April, 1992
The television reports of another death. A Muslim boy shot down by a sniper while playing in the playground.
You blankly stare into the television as the noise from the outside awakens you from your blank state.
A large sum of people seem to be moving down in the street right next to your building. You are living on the 5th floor in a small apartment so you can't see anything from the windows unless you get close to them. |

| The broadcast on the TV made me slightly on edge, i would be a deadshot for snipers if i were to look out of them. |

The snipers are an ever lurking threat so you decided not to look through the window. But suddenly, a strike of realization suddenly struck you. These people were all heading to the war protests in front of the parliament building.
Talks of the protest were going on for days and you haven't yet decided if you are going or not. |

The protests...they were today? Well i promised my friend Sava that i would go with him down to the parliament building. Just so he wasn't on his own. I grabbed my coat off the hook near the front door and tugged it on. |

You quickly got dressed and left the apartment. Since there was no power for days, you had to walk down.
As you descend though the stairway you read messages on the wall like "Down with Izetbegović (Bosnian president)" and "For Greater Serbia".
You were finally in the entrance hall of the building as you made your way to the door. It slowly opened revealing the outside. The sight outside was massive. The crowds of seemingly all nationalities was heading down the street towards the parliament. |

(No, I'm afraid that it is a luxury little people had in Bosnia at that time.)
Suddenly, you heard somebody shouting your name. You turned around and noticed Sava standing on a car, waving like a maniac and calling you by name. |

(thought so)
I managed to navigate the torrent of people sliding to the parliament building. "Sava" I greet him walking up to the car. |

"Do you see these folk? They are all here to protest the government." He yelled out as he jumped into the crowd from the car. You finally met up as the stream of the crowd made you going down the street.
The parliament was just a few blocks down. |

"For a brighter future...apparently" I joke whist trying to stick together, the crowds constantly swept us away.
"To be honest..i totally forgot the protests were today." I shouted over the rabble of the crowd. |

The people were singing and shouting "Down with the government!" all while waving different flags and heading towards the parliament.
"Yeah, but now the protests are here and you can't miss them. Must be thousands here." He observed |

"Yes, but snipers...they lurk everywhere" I reply, glancing cautiously to the surrounding buildings, any window, any crevice or crack could conceal a snipers barrel.

"Your people have been really trigger happy nowadays." Sava said.
Sava was a Muslim who lived in Sarajevo all his life. |

| "I know, their actions will not go unpunished brother" I reply nearing the building. The merciless killing of civilians was not the way forwards. |

You were descending down the street and the parliament was now visible on the left side on the street while Hotel Holiday Inn was on the right side.
People were swarming in front of the parliament and the masses finally stopped because nobody could move any further. You were some fifty meters in front of the parliament entrance.

The crowd seemed to be growing thinner as they entered the parliament. The people were practically swarming in shouting anti-government messages.
Suddenly, a shot was heard not so far in the distance. Grim silence hung in the air. Another shot echoed and screams filled the air. You noticed that a lady who was standing next to you now laid on the ground in a pool of blood.
It seemed as if the gates of hell have opened as people ducked down and searched for cover from the snipers. |

I stood in shock for a moment, watching the lady fall to the ground, blood gushing from her chest. My ears rung for a moment before i was dragged sideways by Sava, almost tripping over in the process. "No, no no no" I repeated to myself as we darted between people, searching for safety. |

"There, at the window, behind the curtain!" Somebody shouted pointing at Hotel Holiday Inn.
As you looked in the direction, you notice protesters running away from Hotel Holiday Inn after previously charging it.
The government security quickly appeared out of the crowd attempting to reassert the control. Soon after, both the snipers and the police officers were engaged in a fight. |

| Not everybody. This was in fact a historic event, 6 people died (I think). I wouldn't like to continue stating facts because I don't want to give away the future of what is to come. |

| I ducked and dodged over people, some poor souls were simply being trampled by the crowd. I saw Sava up ahead, also being barged around and attempting to navigate his way to safety. |
