Now, before you scream at me, "UMG, TYPICAL H0RR0R GAIM WIT SP@M 0F LIGHTZZZ!11!1!!", no. This is a game I made that is based off of Amnesia: The Dark Descent. Before you scream at me, "UMG, MAIK UR 0WN !DEAZ N0B", this is a game I wanted to make for so long, and now that the dynamic lighting is out, this truly remarkable fate has came before me, so its like "I MUST CREATE I NOAW".
So, whoever played Amnesia should know the drill. Though, it is almost impossible to provide an exceptionally great horror game without getting the game deleted on ROBLOX, so my alternative is to make it have numerous puzzles and have a creepy atmospheric-look to it. It may not now sound like a horror game, but it's definitely (I think), is what many great horror games are lacking (just a few jump scares- then... the game is over??) So far, this game is just two hour of work into it's test stage. Unlike Amnesia, this is placed in the present world.
Currently, it works like Amnesia. You go near a light source (in the game, it is the Emergency Exit sign, however, more light assets coming soon) and your sanity will increase (or decrease if you do not have a flashlight or near a lighting asset). If your sanity drains completely, currently you only have decreased walkspeed (in the future, there will be roaming shadows in your view and also dynamic sound effects). This game will be a strictly single-player story-based campaign. How do you think I'll achieve this? Local Camera, of course. All lighting effects and values are set on the Local Camera side, thus making only the current player experience it. Unlike the real Amnesia, the flashlight will recharge it's battery overtime.
Simply, this game is more like an "obby". At each level/puzzles, players will have a checkpoint-saved. When players leave the game, they can come back to the exact checkpoint on where they left off. These checkpoints are not just for spawning or saving location, it's also a upgrade shop. At each checkpoint reached, you will earn 1 Skill Point. These Skill Points can be used to upgrade your Battery Level, Sanity Level, and Awareness:
Battery Level: Increases Battery recharge rate, decreases Battery-use rate. Sanity Level: When near a light asset or your flashlight equipped, Sanity regeneration rate increases significantly. Awareness: When in pure darkness, the rate where Sanity decreases overtime is significantly reduced. Flashlight range and brightness is also increased.
Though, you must keep in mind, you cannot max EVERY upgrade in one-playthrough. There is going to be a limited-amount of checkpoints, so you must choose your upgrades wisely. Though, when you complete the game once, you can replay the whole campaign again with your already-upgraded stuff and with the checkpoints, you can get more Skill Points.

Hold on hold on- suggestion here.
If sanity is drained for prolonged amounts (1-2 minutes), you should lose health slowly. This would give the player pressure to at least find a light source fast. |

@succesful:
Hmm, great idea! Should keep the player going. I shall implement that! |

| I'm assuming loss in sanity would bring hallucinations? |

| Yes, there will be a run-situation. There will also be environment structures and traps, like falling into a hole of spikes or a landslide. |
