I have been trying to fix this tool but its makes my arm go backwards and all kinds of weird stuff... idk whether to post this in scripting or building helpers so i posted it in both...

| is there any way to fix it or detect light some other way? i need to be able to know when the flashlight hits certain objects |

You could check the magnitude of the two objects. http://wiki.roblox.com/index.php/What_is_magnitude
if(ExampleA.Position - ExampleB.Position).magnitude < Number)then --edit light end

| im trying to make a luigi's mansion game where you flash a light onto a ghost and then you can vacuum it, i dont think magnitude would work |
