The in-game notifier
I. Basics
The in-game notifier would notify all users when they receive a private message, trade request, friend request, party chat, and regular chat outside of the game/place they are currently playing/building.
It would say "You received a Private Message from [The user's name]", or whatever they sent to you. If it was the chat, maybe something along the lines of "[The user's name] wants to chat with you!"
It would be useful for people that play games in fullscreen and don't check on things outside the game. I know I always miss party chat invites and PMs when I'm in a game, because sometimes I don't want to miss even a minute of gameplay.
II. Additional features
Perhaps the player in the game, who received a private message, could click on their in-game notification, and the PM would appear on their screen, in a form of a GUI. The user could reply, delete, or archive the PM.
If the user had received a trade request, they would be able to open up the trade request and review the trade. There, they could accept the trade, or delete it. Countering may be too complex, because of the images of the hats.
Users could enable or disable the notifier, in their account settings, or make it so they only receive notifications from friends or best friends.

Also hook it up to the group shout system. But make it user configurable (Like make it so you can chose which group shouts you see, in-game) |
