"much like the ps4 announcement, eh?"
I can only find one example of "entertainment features", which was media molecule's weird dancing music demo
the rest was all gaming-related, did you even watch the conference |

"Only the controller. But the graphics are a HUMONGOUS jump from the ps3 and xbox 360,"
no they're not
PC already have next gen graphics anyway
and I wasn't really impressed at all, the only thing I'm pissed off about is that they never released the specs |

"PC already have next gen graphics anyway"
PC has nothing to do with this? He said it was a jump up from the PS3 and 360?
"they never released the specs"
they've told us it's an eight-core x86 CPU with 8GB GDDR5 ram |

"they've told us it's an eight-core x86 CPU with 8GB GDDR5 ram"
They haven't told us the actual part, however. They can say things like "supercharged GPU blablbal" nonsense but I want the actual name of the specs, not some big words to advertise it.
8GB, I admit, impressive.
Not sure about the CPU.
"PC has nothing to do with this? He said it was a jump up from the PS3 and 360?"
It doesn't feel like a big jump for me, I wasn't mind blown, looked good, but I wasn't blown away. |

| They haven't released the part number because the CPU and GPU have been slightly customised by Sony, so they are not directly comparable to an off-the-shelf component. |

"because the CPU and GPU have been slightly customised by Sony"
it would still have a name
the gpu in the PS3 was a Nvida gpu |

| So you want to know a name for the sake of a name? Even when it cannot be compared to other components? |

"So you want to know a name for the sake of a name? Even when it cannot be compared to other components?"
yes.
giving us the name can give us some way of predicting its power
and besides
I don't like how their advertising it anyway
"SUPERCHARGED GPU" etc etc
I just don't

| So if Sony had named the PS4 GPU 'Zeus' then it would automatically be more powerful than all other PC GPUs? |

i meant the disappointment part, not the entertainment features part
i was quite disappointed with the fact there's not going to be direct backwards compatibility (by direct i mean straight from the disc), among other things

I think everyone was disappointed, myself included
but at least they're providing a solution, allowing us to play PS1/2/3 games over gaikai is a nice alternative but I'm going to have to upgrade my router and change provider if I want a connection good enough to utilise said feature |

i was also disappointed with the DS4 controller
it just looks awkward imo
also, is gaiki a cloud service or a drm service? (drm = buy games and download them, requiring connection to play like steam/origin/etc)

"But aren't you a digital copied gamer?"
i prefer digital copies, yes, but for consoles it's simply more convenient to use discs

how so? I loved the DS3, so I'm used to the stick layout, if that's your problem. But in regards to the DS4, the new L2/R2 look comfy, the sticks seem as if they'll have better grip, and the touchpad doesn't appear to be a bother when devs demonstrate using it
"also, is gaiki a cloud service or a drm service?"
it's a streaming service, which is why I'm worried about lag/input lag and my dismal connection |

"how so?"
it's not the stick layout it's the general shape of it it's handles look steeper than the ds3's, if that makes sense to you
also the location of the start/options buttons looks odd
however one thing i am happy about is that they depressed the joysticks so your fingers don't slide as easily
"it's a streaming service, which is why I'm worried about lag/input lag and my dismal connection"
streaming sucks onlive is a failure service, i don't see why they'd copy them

"it's handles look steeper than the ds3's, if that makes sense to you"
sassy
but yes, I understand. As a matter of fact, if you check out comparison images the DS4's handles appear to less steep, and more curved. I could still be wrong though as we haven't seen them next to each other in a video or anything
"also the location of the start/options buttons looks odd"
have to agree here, but where else do they put it with the touchpad in the middle?
"streaming sucks onlive is a failure service, i don't see why they'd copy them "
agree, but they had to do this to provide PS3 games. It's "impossible" to emulate the Cell processor on the PS4's hardware, in order to have backwards compatibility via disc or download they'd have to actually include the Cell, according to Sony

"have to agree here, but where else do they put it with the touchpad in the middle?"
they could have used the original arrow shaped buttons and done something like this:

i'm sure it wouldn't cost THAT much more to include the processor from the PS3. probably only $50 or so if they managed to make a dual-socket motherboard for the PS3 in some way, as then it would feed off of literally everything else from the PS4 and only require the cpu.

"I bet 100 years from now, video game consoles will be just holograms with moving things" So the console itself will be a hologram? Impressive, but where would the components go? |
