I wish we had some mods like in the BL_forums.
At least they actually cover ALL the sub-forums. |

| Take a long look at it, boys. Two mods posting in on thread is not common these days... |

I say we just take some inactive alt and make it 342k posts.

All of you are still getting angry at the idea that something like this is going to happen. I'm still upset that thought was taken into consideration about it, but...

Most likely more than just a rudimentary thought thrown around at their HQ... it's probably being created right now.

I disagree. We know how you *feel* (ie, that you believe in the importance of post counts), we just don't think it's an appropriate priority.
What does it REALLY mean to have a high post count? To have a higher one than someone else? It's not like levels in an RPG where the number reflects the amount of effort you put in. It can be quite easy to bolster a huge post count saying not very much at all.
We think the time and energy spent obsessing over post counts could be better spent by our players talking about and doing more productive things. Play and design games! Get into the economy! Don't just fret about your post count. It's silly and it doesn't add anything to the conversation. |

| Don't argue with the mod. The mod is always right. *actually not sarcasm* You had a great point, Master. Mods just don't have that much time to spend caring for 1 million+ forumers. You go, MasterChief. |

@MCA;
But post count is an essential part of the forums in that it helps us determine who does and doesn't know what they're talking about. I agree that post count doesn't encourage anything productive, so how would a thumb-based reputation system work? It would decrease the amount of bad posts while increasing the amount of good posts and still allow us to determine who is and isn't a credible forumer. |

If you remove post count, how are we supposed to know who's experienced, and who isn't?
We can't know who to believe, in times of need, or when making a critical decision.
It just defeats the purpose, post count should not be removed.
I can't believe you are even considering this.

@ Arceus
If you mean a "Vote on this guy's reputation" type thing, all this would do is open up a point for spammers/trollers to make mass amounts of alts and bomb everybody's reputation value.

Let me add a little note here:
Sure, the community moderators (MCA, Gordon, Corgi) are all a part of the administration team/moderation team. However, they have little say-so in what occurs on the forums. (coding wise)
They are here to moderate, not code or make decisions on that matter.
Just because they have a certain opinion against something, that doesn't mean that it's going to come true.
To be a little more open minded about all of this, this was a software by Microsoft ASP, which is now outdated.
That is the reason the top poster system is now broken for one, and the developers are not going to go head over heels to remove the post counts. It's irrelevant.

when post count is gone then people will judge by join date
which, really dosent reflect what kind of person you are
and when post count is gone people will just lie and say stuff like"my post count was 7000" in order to get higher status |
