I'd previously planned on getting a prebuilt until realizing there's no such thing as a good prebuilt, so I'm building my own (geez, I'm so indecisive).

Fair warning: I have no idea what I'm talking about in the following paragraphs.

What I'm looking for is a decent build under 1000 USD (including peripherals and a monitor). In addition to gaming, I'll be recording and (occasionally) livestreaming gameplay footage with commentary.

CPU: I'm leaning towards AMD for a budget build, as the slightly better performance of Intel processors doesn't seem to be worth the cost. Correct me if I'm wrong.
I'm thinking a quad-core is all I need for gaming, but I may need more for recording and editing video footage.

Motherboard: While I'll be starting out with 8 GB of RAM, I'd like to have room for more in case I ever want or need to add any in a few years. I'll also need enough PCI slots for dedicated graphics, sound, and network cards.

Storage: I suppose a 1TB hard drive is the amount I need for what I'll be doing.

Video Card: Having a bit of trouble deciding on this one. Would a Radeon HD 7770 1GB be suitable?

Case: I'll take anything that fits my parts in it, although I naturally don't want my case to be an eyesore since I'll have to be looking at it for the next few years. That said, I don't want to spend an exorbitant amount of cash just for a pretty case.

Power Supply: From what I've heard, I don't want to be skimping on my PSU. I want the wattage to be higher than what I need so that I won't need to get a new power supply when I inevitably upgrade.

Optical Drive: I figured I might as well get one considering they're relatively inexpensive.

Operating System: I was previously willing to put up with Windows 8, but I'll go with Windows 7 64-bit since I have the choice.

Sound Card: I really don't know much about these (in fact, I only recently decided to have a dedicated one), so any help choosing one is appreciated.

Wireless Network Adapter: Again, I don't much know what I'm looking for in these, only that I need one since I'll have my computer upstairs.

Display and Peripherals: I need a monitor, keyboard and mouse that are suitable but don't break the bank.

Case Fan: Don't want my computer to overheat, now do I?

Again, any and all help with these is welcome.

Sorry but budget and live streaming is not compatible. You are either going to need to get 2 capture cards for recording + encoding to free up the cpu for gaming or get a good cpu. That costs money.

Yeah, you need a pretty strong CPU for streaming.

But for now I'm putting together something that can be subject to change to make up for the fact you want to stream.

Sound card is useless

Gaming + wireless = lag. Just punch a hole through your wall if there is no way of getting a wired connection.

A little over your price, but worth it IMO.

Also, you'll likely never need above 8GB of RAM, so there's no point in upgrading.

"Sorry but budget and live streaming is not compatible."

My computer is extremely budgeted for a gaming computer and I livestream fine?

"What cpu + if any capture cards"

Just copy/pasting my specs because I'm lazy:

CPU: i3-2100
PSU: Cougar A560 560W 80+ Bronze
MoBo: ASRock PRO3 GEN3
GPU: XFX 6870 1GB GDDR5
Case: Lian-Li PC-K58W
ODD: Samsung SH-222BB/BEBE
RAM: Team Elite 8GB 1333Mhz
HDD1: Seagate Barracude ES 400GB
HDD2: Toshiba 2.5" 250gb
HDD3: Western Digital Scorpio Blue 320GB
HDD4: Samsung 2.5" 640GB
Mouse: Logitech G400
Keyboard: Cooler Master CMStorm Quick Fire Pro
Monitor(s): ASUS VS239H-P
Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit

Also, I haven't done a stream in HD yet, so of course the performance is naturally better than what would be a more "truthful" result.

I guess I wasn't specific when I said livestreaming and budget gaming isnt compatible.

More specific: dont expect to be streaming planetside 2 at HD resolutions

Dwarf fortress should be fine though.

So basically you're pulling stuff out of your arse without seeing any performance whatsoever?

Do yourself a favor and get out of the tech industry, as this is not what one should do.

Well, my LPs and streams are going to be primarily of older games anyways.

I'm not really aiming to get a computer that plays Planetside 2 and Crysis 3 on max settings anyway.

I don't think anyone would enjoy 15fps 480p livesteam.

And I don't think you have any evidence supporting the claim it would be at 15fps.

Its a no brainer

Livestreaming can half your fps easily. And then we can get into the whole upload speed problem.

@Faker
I have a not-even-close-to-gaming PC and it runs livestreams at 30 FPS (the program I use is locked at that speed) and 480-720p

Newsflash: The average game isn't very CPU intense
