“Do you remember still the falling stars
that like swift horses through the heavens raced
and suddenly leaped across the hurdles
of our wishes--do you recall? And we
did make so many! For there were countless numbers
of stars: each time we looked above we were
astounded by the swiftness of their daring p.l.ay,
while in our hearts we felt safe and secure
watching these brilliant bodies disint.eg.rate,
knowing somehow some had sur.viv.ed their fall.” __________________________________________________________________________________________________________

1a: Testing, testing, one two three...
"Right everyone! We're live!"
"One small step for Man, one giant step for mankind..."
The famous words are spoken.
You stand on the cold, grey, metal platform, made from an alloy of Tithium and Iritium. The energy coils whir into life, the nine lights shining brightly. Your device glows, your hand the key, and you p.u.sh it into the slot.
This is the first step, the first step to a better future. A better past. A better place for all of us.
The Scientist, dressed in a daisy white lab coat, a few charred edges and patchwork fabric placed onto it from testing. The governor, dressed in a black suit with white lines running down the surface, and sunglasses, a hat lopsided on one of his round faces. They push the buttons, flicks the switches. The Scientist watches on in apprehension. The governor silently flicks another switch.
A single person is all that's needed. A single touch, a single click, a single connection... a single spark.
It all goes wrong. The station, taken over by a hellish force. The portal opens. The spark hits it. And you are pulled through, sma.sh.ed by the flo.win.g channel, purple and black. Pictures and images of years fly by...
And then it all goes black.
__________________________________________________________________________________________________________
2b: What's going on!?
You suddenly wake up, a flash of blinding light hitting your eyes, before your scuffle up to free your par.ch.ed mouth from the warm, dirt ground. Green stalks of grass sway around you. Confused, you look from left to right.
You see a few others, looking just as confused as you, in the distance. Up above, a shining light flickers in the sky oddly. Your whole body pounds with pain, so you dip your head again. Thick brown m.u.d s.p.latters as your chin hits the ground. Your hands reach out, feeling colder ground, and it's simply warmer where you are, steam rising around a charred ground.
You see a village, thatched roofed buildings and stone walls in the distance. You reach out to it, a saving grace - when you see your hand. A bright light shines within. A mish mash of metal gears, and energy coils - you don't know what these are, or even how you know they're inside, you just know. Somehow.
Your body is barely strong enough to haul yourself to your feet. You stumble along, walking along the grassy hills, away from the blackened ground and towards the village.
__________________________________________________________________________________________________________
3c: You.
You stumble into the village, people crowding to see you. The others are already here, apparently - but you don't understand what they mean. They shift uncomfortably, as you stumble forward in your strange black outfit, ti.g.ht, made out of an unknown fa.b.ric to them.
One walks up to you, older and more confident than the others, a protective and demanding look, but kindness and amazement twinkling in the corner of his eye. "Fallen Star. You've arrived."
__________________________________________________________________________________________________________
4d: Them.
You walk into the town hall, tough granite stones forming walls around you, with weaved threads and rope, thatched straw, forming the roof, thin blades of light slicing through the patchwork structure. A round and wooden table, make from sturdy oak wood, stands in the middle of the room. Eight people walk in with you, each looking just as confused.
"Sit down, Fallen Stars..." The elderly man kindly requests. You listen to him, since there's not much you could do right now. Question well up in your mind, but before you can turn thoughts into words, he touches the middle of the table. It pushes down, then comes back up. A dusty and ancient scroll emerges from the spring mechanism. It reads:
"Nine from the Heavens fall to the ground, Largest of all remaining up above, making no sound, Fallen Stars, the glow still bright, Will fall to Earth, win the fight, The Past and Beyond, bended together - The corrupt future must be severed, Nine Stars fall to earth, Power flowing from their hand and heart - One, The Bright, can control a glow, light ebbing as it fl.o.ws, Second, The Hot, creates a flame, but, not large - small enough to be tamed. Next, The Pull - Control gravity does he or she, not enough to fill a room, but to pull you or me, Then, The Light, can create a flash, enough to damage your eyes like a lash, Fifth, The Charged, controls energy - Sending it out in small bolts, so fast you miss with blinking, Then, The Heat, burning bright, raising the temperature nearly high enough to ignite, Now, The Speed, dashing fast, moving faster than the spells even Wizards can cast, Next to last, The Poison, releasing terror, green wisps killing foes, or even friends when used in error, And finally, The One, full control, Slowing and speeding time - but the key to the whole console... The Grand Star, flickering in the sky, is the gateway at the end, reachable by its origins, and the stone of its friends."
All the members, including you, look up and down at the old man and the scroll. He solemnly states: "You will save us all from the corru.pti.on."
__________________________________________________________________________________________________________
5e: Where am I?
Well, you don't know. It's, apparently, a dark fall after a great era. Many great kingdoms flourished, but did not fight each other, and all was peaceful. You care not to listen about the stories of such Kingdoms, as of yet, since you wish to know where you are.
Apparently, you are in one of the few remaining villages of the kingdom of Arathin, before the corr.up.tion claimed the world. Grassy hills and a few mountains on the Northern horizon are all that is known - no one leaves the village, since anyone who does is under risk of corruption. Whatever that is.
Apparently, the great castles of each kingdom have been transformed into distorted centres of the c.orru.ption (again, what are they talking about?), creating corr.uptio.n, as it pu.mps into the world. And you have to stop it. Great.
__________________________________________________________________________________________________________
6f: What's this on my hand!?
Each and every Fallen Star has their strange and mystical Stardust Gauntlet. Instead of fl.e.sh and b.on.e in the whole back of their hand, they have their Stardust Gauntlet - a dim glowing white orb, over an array of strange machinery. (Ever seen Iron Man's repulsors? Kinda like that on the back of your hand, maybe slightly bigger.)
Each grants the user of it a certain power. Each of the nine fallen stars has a different ability, but they are all linked together by the gauntlets, not wishing to leave the group. The brighter it shines, up to a small and dim glow, shows how much energy the gauntlet has. The stronger the power, the quicker the glow diminishes. It can't go out completely, and instead stops the user from using all their power with a limiter. The dimmest it goes is a tiny sparkle.
Each Fallen Star may choose one of these, which are seen above, but will be now stated in a more readable context:
The Bright: Can create a much brighter glow, instead of the dim glow normally, calming people around it to an extent. Takes very little energy.
The Hot: Creates small fireballs in his hand, but takes a lot of energy.
The Pull: Can, to an extent, control gravity, from using a bit of energy to raise a pebble to all of it to raise a human.
The Light: Flas.h.bang. In essence, the Light can create flashes of light, enough to blind friend or foe for a few seconds. Each takes quite a bit of power.
The Charged: The Charged can create small bolts of energy out of his hands, which takes up the same energy as The Hot.
The Heat: The Heat can raise the temperature to just under flammable temperatures, or can take in small amounts of fire or high heats to give him a small boost of energy to his gauntlet - not much, mind you.
The Speed: Temporary speed around five to ten times that of a normal human, but requires quite a bit of energy for even a quick dash.
The Poison: This Fallen Star can create wafts of green gas, which he can control to an extent. Enemies who inhale this will find it harder to breath, slowing them down. The more de.a.dly the gas, the harder to control and the more energy. This is not quite strong enough to k.i.ll a person.
The One (Reserved): The One can slow or decrease time, but - for example - slowing or increasing by even 2 times would only last ten seconds. The One can decide if others are affected or not, but this takes slightly more energy per person he creates a barrier around.
Your gauntlet will develop over time, granting higher energy reserves to use it.

7g: What shall I do now?:
The closest kingdom is the one you're in - Arathin. It used to have bright, sunny skies, and rolling green hills, the mountains proudly shooting into the horizon. That all changed with the cor.rupti.on.
The cor.rupt.ion, in essence, is a purple m.as.s. It doesn't have its own form - instead, it turns other things into corru.pti.on. A sic.ken.ing shade of dark and light purple, and at times even a re.vo.ting di.r.ty black-brown covers anything it inf.ect.s. It can be spread by even walking upon it for too long, or being attacked by a creature, m.utat.ed and evil, in.fe.cted with it. Anything infected gains mechanisms to attack. Even a stem of grass could become sharp enough to cut a steel plate.
However, hope remains. The C.orru.ption can be kept away by a certain material, which is known as "Timestone". This material appeared at the same time that the Corr.upti.on did. It has a dim glow to it, and seems to radiate a calming aura. The bigger the piece, the larger the area it prevents it entering.
Timestone seems to be what is inside your Gauntlet. Except, the one inside is of a massively higher concentration, but does not prevent corr.upti.on - it instead provides immunity to it for the wielder. This can be noticed, as it takes a pillar of timestone for even a small glow, while you have that in the back of your hand. The village has one in the middle of their fountain, a statue of the soldier who sacrificed himself to the corruption to get it to the village from near to the Castle itself.
You can't leave these innocent people here. The corruption is going to consume everything, unless you stop it. Prepare, then head towards the castle, and triumph over the strange and de.m.onic force.
__________________________________________________________________________________________________________
8h: Who are these people?:
This section is small. Simple peasants of Arathin, in their village called Tyferin. They were lucky enough to have a brave soldier from the Kingdom, who selflessly gave his life to the corruption to get them enough timestone to survive these horrible times. They barely make do with the livestock and crops they have, but the corruption grows stronger every day...
The Town leader is called Tybin Rowenheart, and he shows you around town. Most of it is made from crops of wheat or farms of sk.i.nny and few li.ves.tock, but there's a couple of places of interest:
The Town entrance, the only one, which has two wooden gates, connected to the large but patchwork stone walls that surround the small town, their last hope against the corr.u.ption if it gets that far. There's a blacksmith, but it is rarely used, only a few bronze ores left and no other weapons apart from a few bits and bobs of wood and string of low quality. The Town Hall is barely larger than the average house, not wanting to waste resources, and the fountain outside has the timestone on top as the statue of the soldier, barely glowing bright enough to see.
It doesn't matter, anyway - without you, this whole town will be consumed, along with the rest of the world.
You are their last hope.
__________________________________________________________________________________________________________
9i: What do I have on me?
You are all wearing a strange black leather outfit. You should probably switch it to some normal clothes that the villagers supplied - a range of peasant rags and cloaks, with some sturdy but torn travelling boots.
They can supply you with some weapons, too, but only makeshift: perhaps a bronze blade, st.rapp.ed onto a small wooden handle, or a da.g.ger of the same make, maybe a wooden staff, or even a makeshift bow. A wooden round shield is the only defense they have, but they try to give you whatever they can, afraid but hopeful in their hearts.
__________________________________________________________________________________________________________
10j: Wait, I can't summon giant fir.eba.ll.s of destruction?
No. You can't. For those who don't understand, these are the rules:
Keep it P.G-.1.2
No Gary/Mary sues
No godmodding
No ki.l.li.ng effortlessly. You can't just say "I kill the ___, and run off into the sunset..."
You WILL get hit sometimes. Don't expect to dodge every attack. Maybe you can block most, but dodging is actually hard.
Please use basic grammar - capital letters at the start of sentences, separate text with paragraphs, use full stops. Describe without speech marks, "Talk with speech marks".
Listen to me, and any admins I choose.
Put "Keys to Time" in "Other" in your character sheet if you read this.
Be detailed. Use description in your posts, and especially in your character sheet.
I probably will add rules when necessary, don't expect just these.
"It's not in the rules!" is not an excuse.

CS My name is Evangeline. I am 18. I carry nothing but a notebook and pencil. I am smart and nice. I have wavy orange hair down to my shoulders and green eyes that seem innocent until you see me in action. |

Well, time to introduce yourself. You struggle to think, but remember your na.m.e is: "Uhh... Hello? My name is... uhh... Sam... Sam... Sam Thompson, I think."
Looking down at yourself, you look like: Well, my hair seems to be quite soft, but it's unkept and slightly black at the tips where I crash landed or something. I grab a small strand, and look at it, seeing it's blonde, slightly muddy but dark naturally. I look in some glass. My body is quite slim, but tough, and my eyes are a deep blue. I picked up a muddy brown cloak, with some of the tougher boots, and a ragged brown cloth shirt, a smaller green one underneath, and tough brown traveling leggings. My skin appears to be quite pale, but that might just be from all the darkness around here.
Hmm. It's hard to remember, very hard, but you're: I'm... ugh, my head... Erm... Twenty-One ye.a.rs o.l.d. That's it.
You exit the town hall, and head over to the blacksmith. You pick up a: Sword. I remember having something like a sword, and lessons with it. I dunno what.
You pack your suit into a ragged bag. Inside the suit, you found a few bits and bobs, : Well, I have a small book, but it seems to be unreadable now it's burnt. Ugh. I've got a few pieces of some kind of chewy food substance, and a packet of matches. Erm, I can't really find anything el- oh? Oh. It's just a piece of paper with a pencil and rubber.
Now. You test your Gauntlet, and discover what it does. You are the: I am... I am The One.
A villager comments on your perso.n.ality, praising some points and criticizing others. The villager states that you're: Apparantly, I "Have a good heart, but it's hidden under a cold exterior. You seem to be a bit antisocial, even though you appear to be a natural leader! You seem quite intelligent, but reluctant to use this! Why? You have these good qualities, but hide them under shyness and wanting to be a lone wolf! Your heart knows the right way, but you listen to your head too much. Logic is good, but too much can stop you from doing the right thing."
Something tugs at your mind. You remember the OTHER thing. It's: Hmm. Why is this stuck in my mind? The phrase: Key to Time. |
