Telamon Quiz #6

I've got a level with:

* A disco floor made out of blinking tiles

* An elevator (like the one in Glass Houses)

* A lot of billboards

If my level is laggy in multiplayer, which thing is most likely to be causing the lag and why?

a disco floor made out of tiles becuase i haved used a disco floor and it causes alot of lag i think the scripting makes it slow

Oh the awnser:There are a lot of pieces to generate and they also are flashing so it is slower by having to generate all of that.

A lot of billboards, since each Billboard is attempting to download all of those decal files, which can cause ALOT of lag.

The elevator is really slow because the blinking tiles are causing lag...And the billboards are downloading those files which causing the elevator to go slow...

i would say billboards because in the glass houses level when i play i dont detect much lag and also there is so many decals trying to download into the place which on most computers cause major lag if theres more then 7 or 10.

or actually im changing my answer to the dance floor. my explaination:

because you need to script every tile of the dance floor that makes lots of scripts running at once which is bad for maps that have lots of bricks. the elevator is ok because its only 1 script while the dance floor is a bunch.

I would say the Dance pad/disco pad is causing the lag because: It has a script which makes the bricks/tiles flash different colors...And if its a big pad its also causing the lag. The reason why I chose this is that elevators dont cause to much lag...Nor do billboards...And like OZZY said you need to script each and every brick in the dance floor, and lots of scripts mess up a map.

I think that it would be the billboards b/c they are pictures pasted on the brick and it takes a lot of place space b/c it has to continually has to upload the pics pixels....
Hope that makes sence...I couldnt find all the right words to use

i think it's the disco tiles the scripts it needs to make it flash are huge! and the billboards also add a lot of lagg do to the pictures loading!

im upgrading my answer ^__^



a disco floor causes lots of lag because you need to script every tile of the dance floor which makes lots of scripts running at once which is bad for maps that have lots of bricks. the elevator is ok because its only 1 script while the dance floor is a bunch. also the script causes lots of lag to because in the dance floor theres tons of them and every second they have to work to chang coulour which will cause massive lag if u have a big dance floor.
