“Brought Back” A story based off of the ROBLOX Forums by benningtonguy
INTRODUCTION
The sun rose its glowing head over the eastern landscape of ROBLOXia, ready to bring light to a new, fun-filled day in the country of Forum. As sol rose, it casted its rays across the clear glass dome of the city of General Discussion. The dome was massive, enough to cover tens of thousands of studs. The city was bustling, even at morning - forumers were frantically chatting about the newest in ROBLOX updates, bans, trade offers, or whatever they felt like they needed to discuss. Of course the moderators were busy overseeing the city, watching for any signs of trouble. Every once in a while, people try to ruin the cities, but the moderators act as some sort of government in the city. The city was comprised of buildings that rose and fell – these were new discussions forming, while other ones were put into the archives, a supercomputer that was installed under the city itself. All around the edges of the huge dome were high-speed trains to take ROBLOXians to other parts of the country. These include Off Topic, Scripting Helpers, Building Helpers, and so on, with populations of thousands of ROBLOXIANS each. Every day in General Discussion, there are always newcomers from other countries. A wobbly ROBLOXian stepped off the train that came from Places - a country nearby Forum. Close to the train were two active forumers - Wazupmaster and LolMeLol1. "Ha, look what stumbled off the monorail!" said LolMeLol1 with a chuckle. "More like the monoFAIL!" exclaimed Wazupmaster. "Very funny." said benningtonguy, the ROBLOXian trying to regain is balance, "Anyways, what is this place?" Wazupmaster, not hesitant to reply, said, "This is Forum. Feel free to jump in some of the conversations happening all around the city!" Benningtonguy was astonished - so many people in one place. All of them were getting along, nobody was building anything and nobody was exploiting or griefing. He soon realized that he couldn't even build in Forum, it wasn't possible (for some odd reason, benningtonguy couldn't figure out. He was new to this.) The newbie forumer was eager to join in a conversation - it was simple and about a new hat. The fresh forumer stepped into a door with a sign above it that said “What about this new hat? by Qwertas12.” Benningtonguy stepped through the door, and chatted with some ROBLOXins. "I think the hat looks kinda cool :D!" posted benningtonguy. He suddenly felt a tingly sensation inside his blocky, studded body. He saw a one pop up above his head, then it quickly disappeared. Benningtonguy was startled, "Uhhh....?" He walked back outside to LolMeLol1. "Good job kid. Don't be scared of it. It is just your post count, every time you join in a conversation here, it adds up." said LolMeLol1. "Is there a limit?" asked benningtonguy, still confused. "Nah, it just adds up. It never goes away! How cool is that?" said LolMeLol1, with a huge grin across his face. It suddenly turned into a frown, though, "There's this thing called Floodcheck that the moderators established here - you can only say something in a conversation a few times a minute. It's good for people who try to blab their mouths here, but it can get annoying sometimes.” Throughout the day, the three ROBLOXians explored the city, showing benningtonguy all of the forumers that inhabited General Discussion. They took him to see every new thread and some old threads before they were put back underground. At about mid-day, they ended up at the center of the city. “Something isn’t right” benningtonguy said, “There are cracks in the top of the dome.” “It’s just the reflections.” said Wazupmaster, beginning to worry. A few seconds later, there was a cracking sound. Not like breaking a pencil – but like thousands of the transport trains collided at once. It was ear shattering, and lasted for a few seconds. “What is happening?” shouted LolMeLol1. Everybody in the city was panicking as the glass dome that protected Forum was destroyed. As the dome was cracking, the ground began to shake. Bricks began to split apart as the grounded seemed to split open as if the sun had ran its burning hand across it. The cracks in the dome had reached the bottom diameter. Holes began to appear in the dome as the glass broke off, shattering and hitting ROBLOXians as it collided with the bricks below. Sunlight poured in. ~~~ The domes that protect the cities of ROBLOX have been unknown, nobody really knew when they were built or how they even appeared. All the people knew was that they could not even put a scratch in the godly glass of the domes. ROBLOXians never really knew what they were being protected form. Was there an evil force outside of the domes? Some even predicted that if the glass domes were broken, respawning would end. But, the actual truth was just this – when the domes break, the sunlight leaks in. That sunlight, it contains an agent that disintegrates plastic bricks within seconds. Disintegrated to a point where nobody could respawn. As the sunlight poured in, ROBLOXians began bursting into dust. The dust then melted into a puddle and vanished into the ground. The dome collapsed in on itself, and the city began crumbling. The sunlight swept through the tunnels of the transport trains. Within minutes every dome and every city in ROBLOXia crumbled down. The same sun that brought light to ROBLOX soon gave it death. And as the sun set, it left the silhouettes of destroyed buildings in its wake.
Chapter I – 2000 years later
Demolished buildings lay on the earth all the way to the horizon. A grey dust swarmed around the ruins. ROBLOXia was a dead planet now – there was no life to be found anywhere. Except for a few ROBLOXian bodies, that lay scattered across the whole country. These were the bodies of the few who were not affected by sunlight – a rare, mutant gene that could withstand the sunlight. Even with this gene, the bodies still lay there, with no life. All ROBLOXians are connected to the supercomputer underground, as so the rest of material objects in ROBLOXia. A supercomputer than runs for millions of studs underground. The end of the ROBLOXian cities 2000 years ago caused the supercomputer to do an emergency shutdown, and would not restart until 2000 years later. This, scientists hoped, would allow enough time for ROBLOXia to recover itself from a severe disaster. It was ROBLOXia’s last hope of survival. A whining alarm sounded underground. Lights flickerer on, and the sounds of CPUs filled the silence of the dead insides of ROBLOXia. Every seemingly dead body in ROBLOXia was brought back to life. Benningtonguy’s eyes opened, very slowly, the darkness of sleep escaping him. His head was woozy, and his limbs still had little feeling in them. He sat up, and looked around with glazed eyes. Dust covered his plastic body, making him appear as a living statue. “What…Where am I?” he thought. He squinted through the dust. His vision was minimal, he could only see about 50 studs in front of him. Crumbled building fragments lay in small hills all around him. It was dead silent. ~~~~~~ There is one thing that the moderators forgot to tell ROBLOXia. Nobody really knew that there was a supercomputer underground that controlled everything. If somebody got to the supercomputer somehow, they would be confiscated by security and have their mind erased. ~~~~~~ Benningtonguy had been walking for what felt like an eternity. His legs were weary. The ground met his body, and he blacked out. “…Are you alive?” said a voice, very faintly. Benningtonguy opened his eyes and found another ROBLOXian standing over him. His body was also covered in a thick layer of dust. “Who are you?” said benningtonguy. “My name is 15rawsone. What’s your name? Are you okay?” said 15rawsone. “I’m benningtonguy, and I think I’m fine...” benningtonguy said, drifting off into thought. “Wait, what the hell happened? Where’s the city? The forum? My friends!” He started to panic. “I don’t know. I just really don’t.” said 15rawsone, looking worried. “Maybe we will find some more people if we keep walking. Come on, it’s the most we can do. We should really stretch a bit. Looks like we’ve been out for a while. The two ROBLOXians continued walking, disappearing into the dusty atmosphere.
