I need inspiration for Kevlar's fort.
Kevlar is a modern military, so keep it relatively modern.
No cities.
Nothing completely indoors.
Nothing that requires a ridiculous amount of scripting, though I may be able to get away with more simple things. Not sure yet.
I plan on putting a HELL of a lot of work in to this, so I need to have a solid game plan before I start. I may even build a miniature model of the fort to see how I like it before I put effort in to it.
So, ideas? |

Well, think about what has been done before, and what is possible for a modern military to build.
With Sci-Fi, you have many more options...
Perhaps an island fort. Those are always needed, and you can have vast amounts of unexplored regions, and the fort itself can be under construction.
Most forts are just sitting on the terrain. They don't really match the terrain very well, and the terrain becomes arbitrary. So, you can reuse old ideas, but if you incorporate the terrain well into the overall experience, then your finished product will be unique. Focus on giving players options to take. (Many paths, multiple goals, etc...)

I don't like the whole island idea, mostly because boats tend to be very problematic. They cause lag, the boats glitch, respawning boats is an issue, etc.
Nothing where you have to travel from point A to point B via vehicle. |
