Let me introduce myself... My username is PsychoWaffle. I am a pretty good builder and pretty good scripter.
That's 'nuff introducing, so let me introduce to you my game WIP. For those of you who don't know, WIP stands for Work In Progress.
My game, "Walls", is a FP horror game similar to SCP-087-B and Slender. My original inspiration was SCP-087-B, which is a pretty cruel game to play by yourself given the fact you can barely see in front of you and you are surrounded in all but 2 directions: forward and backward. Then I thought about how fun it would be to add the scare factor of a pretty strange, innovative monster that is constantly chasing you...
In this game demo I have set up, you have a flashlight, a map, and a monster. There is no goal in it yet in this place but to just test out my AI, flashlight, or just get a feel of the game.
I'm thinking that there will be the goal of finding keys throughout the map that unlock certain doors which will lead you to more keys, etc. until you either die from not figuring out these puzzles or make it to the exit of this never-ending series of hallways, doorways, and special places.
Innovative Features:
-Single Player Game. (Everyone has their own map. Later, there will be a random select of different maps when you respawn.)
-Non-Tool Flashlight. (I spent good time on this... it involved me rewriting a code to make you spawn a different way, actually.)
-Blink Gui. (This isn't too innovative, but keep reading to find out what purpose this blink gui has...)
-Original Monster. (That's right... I didn't copy any other monster design. In fact, the Wall Monster has no head; he has a creepy BillboardGui instead. This also allows you to see his face through the darkness adding an even creepier feel.)
-Cool Monster AI. (I think it's cool, anyway. He can detect when you blink and will move at a walkspeed of 100 for the 0.25 seconds you can't see him. Also, this allows him to phase through walls... I hate it when he jumps out of nowhere at me. D:)
When you first start this demo, don't worry... his AI will only be enabled once you walk through the first intersection. (He will be to your right.)
Currently, there is no flashlight battery, but there will soon! Also, enjoy the sounds for now... they may be replaced with better ones. :)
Please leave comments and suggestions here, and please, don't get ugly. If you have something honest but rude, PM me... I don't need a bunch of hate comments in my forum that serves as a suggestion forum, too.
I think that's about it...
Enjoy!!!

1ST COMMENT/POST! :D
Good game, fun too. Waffle, make it where the AI randomly spawns around the map.. So you can be walking for 5 minutes and never find him.. Then... he pops out behind a wall and scares you... One thing I hate, is knowing where all the monsters are... Anyways great game! |

Hmmm... Sorta like Slender, eh?
Yeah, maybe I should do that... after you meet him once he may go silent for a few minutes and BOOM!
Yeah, that would be kinda terrifying, wouldn't it? I'll make that...
Oh by the way, the keys you will have to find and collect, they will be held by a wood keyholder thing and guess what might happen when you pick up the key???
Lets just say, don't turn directly around and hightail it out of there...
Ok, I'll add a more suspenseful AI...
And just to think I had no idea how to get a monster to chase a character before this project. :o |

Lol yeah but, you had more scripting experience then I did when I started!
why not have it where the AI could spawn entities of it self, but they would not cause any harm to the player other then scaring the player. So only the one and true AI would kill the player. While the "entities" would be able to "walk" through walls, or the player would see its "head' appear for a sort time then disappear..
And what if he's lets say 20 studs away, your flash light flickers. If he's 10 studs away your flashlight flickers faster and goes dark every once and a while. But if hes 6 studs or closer.. your flash light goes bright then dies.
But if you get away from him, your flashlight is back to normal. Also have it where his effect on the flash light can also cause the flashlights battery to deplete faster. |

These "entities" WOULD'VE been just jumpscares, but I guess you're right; I could just have one separate Wall Monster that gets teleported to a jumpscare location when needed...
Such as the "I just blinked when he was nowhere near me and he just jumped into my face and disappeared a split second afterwards and played the scary noise" jumpscare...
I could also use this for the "Omg I just picked up a key off the wall mount and turned around and he was there and he rushed at me really fast and disappeared right before he hit me" jumpscare... |

Yey, you made a thread. c: I love horror games. I'm easily scared, though. Mostly by stuff that wasn't intended to scare me. .-. |

Nice so far. I suggest you add cutscenes and maybe a storyline to go with it?
