I understand music more than you, I'm sure. You're allowed to your own opinion, which is fine. But you can't deny that Bruno Mars is an amazing singer. He sounds the same live.
Just to show you how ridiculously good this guy's voice is, look up 'Gorilla' by Bruno Mars, then go to about 2:50 in the song. At that point, the song has undergone a key change (the notes sounds different, basically). He hits this note that is so damn high it woke me up at two in the morning when I had my iPod on shuffle. Simply incredible. |

Eminem is an amazing lyricist. He has literally paved the way for many rap/hip-hop artists today. Again, I completely understand if you don't like Eminem and/or his music. It is different and some people don't enjoy his harsh sense of humor. But again, you can't deny the fact that his lyrics and flow are great.
@GG
I know exactly how you feel. I feel the same way about Adele. |

I'm willing to have a discussion about this, but not if you're not willing to learn the whole story first. Do some Google research about Marshal Mather's life, then look in to who 'Slim Shady' is.
If after you've learned everything, your opinion is unchanged, I'd be willing to dicuss this further.

"He's a complete idiot.."
>Eminem has won 87 awards including an oscar and 11 grammies.
So unless you can do better, I suppose we can consider you and just about everyone else in this world a complete idiot? |

| MM has a point. I'd admit that most awards for celebrities are poorly judged, but after about the 50th award, you'd have to suspect something must be good about the artist. |

"He's just an idiot."
He's a lyrical and music genius, I'm not a fan of rap at all - but even I and most everyone who knows of him in this world can acknowledge that.
To call him an idiot with absolutely no base and no legitimate theory besides criticizing a topic of one of his songs you refuse to research is hilariously "idiotic".
You can say you don't like his music. You can even say you don't believe him to be a great artist. If you really wish to make a fool of yourself, you can even call him an idiot, but just know it's an opinion you are largely alone with. |

See, this is why I can't have complex discussions regarding music with people like you.
You've got this idea stuck in your head that an artist is amazing/terrible, and refuse to change it. You're mentally fixed to the idea of pure love/hatred for an artist, without considering the facts. I don't mind if you're opinion doesn't change, but if you don't at least consider it, it shows ignorance in a musical sense.
I now listen to many artists that I would never have liked previously, purely because of complex musical discussions. If you can provide a valid argument for an artist, I will always give them a second look. |

I would like you to consider listening to an artist known as Kinetics.
He's not very well known, but he is, in my opinion, an even a better lyricist than Eminem. He is the person that inspires me to write lyrics myself, and if you enjoy Eminem's more clever lyrics, I think you'll love Kinetics. |

I don't mind listening to that genre of music, but I can't do it often. It's nice to listen to if you don't feel like thinking and just want to drown out the world for a bit. After a while though, I can't ignore the vocalists of most of that genre. I'll be honest about it, not many of them can really sing. |

Em, I listen to RAP that resembles my life. I also write songs to get out my feelings. RAP is a passion of mine. |

I'll listen to all forms of rap, but for the following reasons:
1. Inspiration/For a Laugh This would include the more clever lyricists that I listen to. These are artists that love to throw hidden references and messages. I love to 'decode' them.
2. To jam out with friends These would be the more ghetto rappers like Kendrick Lamar and Two-Chainz. Terrible artists, but catchy instrumentals. It's fun to act like a hooligan while listening to them.
3. To dance By dance, I mean grind. Something about some rap songs that makes girls want to grind, and I can't complain.
If I'm feeling down or something like that, I'll listen to somebody like Bruno Mars. Amazing singer, catchy, original, lots of flats, etc. |

| I've been a long-time Eminem fan even though I don't like rap as much as I used to, they're a certain lyricists that I can't get enough on. Their flow and the way they hit it harder and harder throughout the song really gets me going. I'm now more of a Hollywood Undead guy, but Eminem will always be my favourite artist 'cause he masters the english language, in my opinion. |
