Just a random thread, and I know a make a lot of threads, forgive me.
Anyway I always love reading up on how people would survive if the situation would ever occur (not saying 'Zombies' are possible, but whatever.) however there is a recurring pattern, everyone assumes that they're invincible to the plague, and wouldn't be haggard down by emotions, but the truth is, we aren't John Rambo, we do have emotions, and that's how the Zombies would win. Emotion overrides logic.
And, the Zombies in this scenario are a combination of Runners and Walkers. Depending on the state of their body after reanimation they will have the ability to run, until rigor mortis settles in.
So, how would you realistically survive? Implying you make it out of the door without topping yourself, first. |

Other factors you have to take in consideration are supplies, fellow survivors, and the elements. How will you survive when there is a shortage of supplies in your town, can you trust your friends / family, and how will you survive the winter?
Zombies are hardly the main threat. |

"If I were in my house id get all the canned foods and drinks I could find in my house and sit in my attic"
Those canned goods won't last long, my friend, and then soon hunger will settle in. If you fear traveling outside in search for food, then, well, it's not too long before you start contemplating cannibalism.
"I am extremely against taking a human life."
Looks like I'll have to put your corpse down, son.
See ya' on the other side.
"I can trust my friends, they've never been the type to lie."
People change. |

To raise the stakes,
When the number of Infected begin to rocket, the military begin to close off various locations, and shoot down all potential infected, after a while soldiers are sent into these locations, and attempt to kill off the cause of infection. So, now soldiers are a threat, as well. |

| If I have one can of food every 3 weeks Ill only take 2 cans of food a month. That's 12 cans a year. |

Except it's not as easy as that.
Will you have the strength to do it? What about your parents? All these factors count, man. |

| Thankfully I live near DC, so my area will probably bee quarantined/under military control pretty quickly. Until then, or if the zombie apocalypse starts where I live, first things first I cry a bit in the corner. Then, if my parents are still around, work together to get the refrigerator up to the top floor to store our food in an optimal location, away from doors. We can't really collapse the stairs, but they're still a chokepoint so we could block them off with wood, perhaps disguised to look like a normal wall to fool zombies. After that, it really depends upon how quickly things go downhill. |

Whilst I'm not picky with shows such as "The Walking Dead". It would be cool as hell if they start incorporating these factors, they can be as much as a threat, as a hostile survivor, or a zombie. We need a survival mini-series.
"though it all depends on how long the "Zombiegeddon" itself lasts."
It will last a while.
The Infected will eventually decay to the point where they're no longer a threat, but life will be radically different, from that point on.
"I'm theorizing if it were me alone. Ye."
Will you be able to survive emotionally, without your parents?
"first things first I cry a bit in the corner."
Good strategy. It's good to get it out.
"After that, it really depends upon how quickly things go downhill."
I guess it depends on the location, and how spread out the infection is, and how long can it be contained. Still, it's fun to discuss such things.
