Has Minecraft copied ROBLOX? Or has ROBLOX copied Minecraft? Tricky question. Here's a Wikipedia about Minecraft. Minecraft is a sandbox indie game originally created by Swedish programmer Markus "Notch" Persson and later developed and published by Mojang. It was publicly released for the PC on May 17, 2009, as a developmental alpha version and, after gradual updates, was published as a full release version on November 18, 2011. A version for Android was released a month earlier on October 7, and an iOS version was released on November 17, 2011. On May 9, 2012, the game was released on Xbox 360 as an Xbox Live Arcade game, co-developed by 4J Studios. All versions of Minecraft receive periodic updates. The creative and building aspects of Minecraft allow players to build constructions out of textured cubes in a 3D procedurally generated world. Other activities in the game include exploration, gathering resources, crafting and combat. Gameplay in its commercial release has two principal modes: survival, which requires players to acquire resources and maintain their health and hunger; and creative, where players have an unlimited supply of resources, the ability to fly, and no health or hunger. A third gameplay mode named hardcore is the same as survival, differing only in difficulty; it is set to hardest setting and respawning is disabled, forcing players to delete their worlds upon death. Minecraft received five awards from the 2011 Game Developers Conference: it was awarded the Innovation Award, Best Downloadable Game Award, and the Best Debut Game Award from the Game Developers Choice Awards; and the Audience Award, as well as the Seumas McNally Grand Prize, from the Independent Games Festival in 2011. In 2012, Minecraft was awarded a Golden Joystick Award in the category Best Downloadable Game.[5] As of January 22, 2013, the game has sold over 9 million copies on PC and over 20 million copies across all platforms.[6]
So, there's Minecraft. What about ROBLOX? Here it is. Roblox, stylized as ROBLOX, is an massively multiplayer online game created and marketed toward children and teenagers aged 8-16. In the game, players are able to create their own virtual world, in which them, or other online members may enter and socialize within the blocks of varying shapes, sizes, and colors.[1] Games on Roblox can be scripted using a sandboxed edition of Lua 5.1, to affect events that occur in-game and create different scenarios. The company's main source of revenue comes from the "Builder's Club" virtual benefits, in which users who have created an account may purchase either Builders Club, Turbo Builder's Club, or Outrageous Builder's Club, otherwise known by users as BC, TBC, and OBC, respectively.[2]
History and development:
Roblox was created by founder and co-founder David Baszucki and Erik Cassel in 2004, and went public in 2005.[3] It was named after a portmanteau of the words robots and blocks.[4] In early 2006, Roblox only had one currency Roblox Points, which was then discontinued and replaced with Tickets and Robux. In mid-2007, Roblox considered a new character concept to allow for more complex clothing such as hairpieces to blend with the character.[5] This was however rejected later for the minifigure design which was already in use. Since 2010, Roblox started creating body shapes which players could buy using virtual currency. Roblox also announced that there would be body shapes for non-upgraded users, but so far none have been made that are purchasable.[6] In June 2011, Roblox began receiving funding from Altos Ventures and First Round Capital.[7] In 2011, more than 5.4 million games were created. On December 11, 2012, Roblox released the ability to play games on iOS. All users are now able to play any of the millions of games Roblox has to offer.[8] The current iOS devices compatible with running Roblox games are: iPad 2 and up, iPhone 4 and up, and the iPod 5. The Roblox mobile app gives users the option of customizing their character, shopping in the catalog, playing games, viewing their profile, and responding to messages. It is still being decided whether the feature of foruming will become a part of the mobile app. Cassel died on the morning of February 11, 2013 after a three-year battle with cancer.[9]
So? What do you think? Did Minecraft copy ROBLOX? Or did ROBLOX copy Minecraft? Tell your answer in the Comments Below!

tl;dr
But I read the first line.
The two games are different i their own ways, and both have positives and negatives.
It's like comparing BF and COD, two FPS games, but they aren't the same. |

First of all, Minecraft: Minecraft is a sandbox indie game originally created by Swedish programmer Markus "Notch" Persson and later developed and published by Mojang. It was publicly released for the PC on May 17, 2009, as a developmental alpha version and, after gradual updates, was published as a full release version on November 18, 2011.
And second, Roblox: Roblox, stylized as ROBLOX, is an massively multiplayer online game created and marketed toward children and teenagers aged 8-16. In the game, players are able to create their own virtual world, in which they or other online members may enter and socialize within the blocks of varying shapes, sizes, and colors.[1] Games on Roblox can be scripted using a sandboxed edition of Lua 5.1, to affect events that occur in-game and create different scenarios. In mid-2007, Roblox considered a new character concept to allow for more complex clothing such as hairpieces to blend with the character.[5] This was however rejected later for the minifigure design which was already in use. Roblox reached its first milestone of 10,000 registered users on December 11th, 2006.[6] Roblox player badges were first introduced on December December 22nd, 2006. The first badges available were the Homestead Badge, the Bricksmith Badge, the Friendship Badge, the Combat Initiation Badge, the Warrior Badge, and the Bloxxer Badge.[7] Meshes were added, and so were the abilities of sending friend requests to other players, and sending messages. Other things accomplished in 2006 were searching through players, places, and items, multiplayer places, stats, and inventories.[8]
In 2007, customizing your character was possible.[9] In late January, the Report Abuse button was added for players to report inappropriate behavior.[10] Also, character animations and private message history and notifications. In March of 2007, Roblox became COPPA compliant, added Super Safe Chat, and Skyboxes and time of day.[11] In April 2007, Roblox added the feature of Builders Club and server improvements.[12] Greater Improvements and Recognition (2010 - 2012)
Since 2010, Roblox started creating body shapes which players could buy using virtual currency. Roblox also announced that there would be body shapes for non-upgraded users. [13] In June 2011, Roblox began receiving funding from Altos Ventures and First Round Capital.[14] In 2011, more than 5.4 million games were created.
On December 11, 2012, Roblox released the ability to play games on iOS. All users are now able to play any of the millions of games Roblox has to offer.[15] The current iOS devices compatible with running Roblox games are: iPad 2 and up, iPhone 4 and up, and the iPod 5. The Roblox mobile app gives users the option of customizing their character, shopping in the catalog, playing games, viewing their profile, and responding to messages. It is still being decided whether the feature of foruming will become a part of the mobile app. Recent Changes and Updates (2012 - Present)
Cassel died on the morning of 11 February 2013 after a three-year battle with cancer.[16] Gameplay
Players can customize their virtual characters with hats, head shapes, body shapes, clothing, and handheld items known as gear. All players can create their own pants, t-shirt, or shirt that they can wear. While regular users can only wear the clothes themselves, upgraded members can choose if they would like to sell it, and for what price.
Players who have any form of Builders Club can create a game that allows up to 30 players, also known as a mega place. In addition to this feature, upgraded players can also create badges for their place and Game Passes. Badges are a type of award that is given out to players who find the badge brick. Game Passes, which were introduced in mid to late 2012, are passes that give players who buy it special abilities chosen by the creator of the game. Some common uses for Game Passes are for a VIP or for getting an ability.
There are currently four different modes for playing games: Play Mode, Build Mode, Personal Servers, and Edit(Studio) Mode Social interaction
Players can add other people they meet in the game to their friends list. From the friends list, players can select up to 20 friends as their best friends. Players can set their profile status for their best friends to view on their news feed, and best friends and friends alike can view statuses when going to their profile.[17] Players also have the option join Community Groups.[18] After joining, players can then advertise their group,[19] participate in group relations,[20] and set primary groups.[21] In games however, players who signed up with their age being over 13 can free chat, or type whatever they want to say. Players who are guests or signed up under the age of 13 must use safe chat, which only allows a list of phrases set by Roblox. However, adding an e-mail to an account under the age of 13 and e-mailing Roblox you would like to be able to chat, they will change the option. There is a wide range of words that are blocked because of moderation and preventing any type of profanity. World construction Editing using Roblox Studio 2013.
Players construct games with building bricks/blocks, varying in size, shape, and color using Roblox Studio, a software resembling Microsoft Visual Studio used for customizing places. Players can use the programming language Lua to dynamically change the environment of the game.[22] Also, plugins can be developed with Lua to be used in Roblox Studio.[23] Roblox Studio was recently replaced with its succedent, Roblox Studio 2013. The 2nd version of Studio features a more organized layout, a corrector in the programming space resembling Spell Check, and a new design. Players were initially having problems with the screen shaking, the inability to select parts, and crashes during the first few weeks of the release. Economy and Currency
Roblox includes two virtual currencies: Tickets and Robux. They can be converted from one to the other with the currency exchange.[24][25] Tickets are earned for a variety of activities: when places are visited, as a daily login bonus, or for item sales including shirts, pants, and t-shirts. In-game items can be sold for either a set price in any type of currency, allowing the buyer to choose which currency they pay with. Robux is earned daily by premium members in varying amounts depending on the user's type of membership. Robux can also be earned through sale of virtual goods or can be purchased directly with real money. Holiday Traditions
During holidays like Easter, Halloween, or Christmas, Roblox will adapt the website to resemble the season. For example, in Halloween, the website theme will be black, orange, and purple, with a pumpkin representing the "o" in Roblox. In Easter, Roblox sets up a level where players can search the world for "eggs" to collect and earn as hats for their character. On Halloween and Christmas, Roblox creates "gifts" where the players can earn or buy them. After they are no longer obtainable, the gifts will open after a set period of time and give players a specific unique item.
And 3rd: Blockland: Blockland is a multiplayer computer game built on the Torque Game Engine, in which players build using Lego-like building blocks.[1] It was developed by Eric "Badspot" Hartman and was released on February 24, 2007.[2] The game is not endorsed by, or affiliated with the Lego brand. However, at one point, Lego was in talks with Eric about selling Blockland.[3] It was spotlighted on The Screen Savers[4] on February 11, 2005, drastically increasing the user base overnight. As of October 2012, the game's community consists of about 41,000 users who have purchased Retail Blockland. Blockland has also been featured on Shack News.[5] Gameplay
Blockland is a non-linear open world game with no set goals, giving players the freedom to design and construct elaborate structures. Styled as a tiny minifigure, players build inside of the virtual world using bricks reminiscent of toy blocks. These structures can be built in either a single-player or multiplayer (either online or through a local area network) setting. Any player who buys the game is able to host a standard server, able to hold up to 99 players. Some more advanced users can even hold up to 150 players. Spaceships ready to attack! A scary temple with ruins built by several Blockland users An island filled with cliffs and trees built by a Blockland user Generated terrain via script in Blockland
Using tools included in the game, a player can change the properties of individual bricks, having the ability to adjust their lighting, particle emitters, specularity, color, and spawned items. Blockland also features destructible vehicles, player controlled npcs, a selection of weapons, saving and loading of player creations, semi-automated construction through macros, and a mini-game system. The minigame system enables users to create configurable and self-contained gameplay modes.[6] These can range from a simple deathmatch to a custom-modded zombie survival game. Implemented in Blockland is a trigger and event-based system to create basic interactive objects. Players can apply input and output operators to bricks to accomplish different things in-game such as operable light switches, missile launchers, collapsing brick structures, or arcade-like games such as Pong or Breakout. In version 11, a new physics feature was included in an attempt to bring a more realistic aspect to the game. This can be seen when a brick structure is blown up using weapons or events. The physics quality can be lowered to work smoother on slower machines, or can be turned off entirely. Demo
Included on the official Blockland website is a free download of the demo version of Blockland. While allowing players to experience many features from the full version of Blockland, players are limited to loading default builds and cannot load any third part add-ons or saves.. Some saves which come with the game are under the demo brick limit and allow new players to explore some of Blockland's features; builds such as the 'Demo House' 'Demo Blockland Sign' and 'Demo Pong' for example are available as demo examples of eventing and lettering. Included in the demo is a tutorial in which the players can learn the basics of Blockland. You may also jump in to several pre-created maps for you to explore and build in. The demo also does not allow online play, limiting players to single-player games. It is, however, possible to join LAN servers created by owners of the full version. As of August 9th, 2012, with the release of shadows and shaders, the brick limit was removed so players can now build with the amount of bricks they want, but are restricted to use add-ons or saves that are in the game by default. The demo version is upgraded to the full version when a unique activation key is purchased from the Blockland website and authenticated through the game. Eventing system
Included in the game since version 9, there has been a trigger and output eventing system. Users can create their own events through the use of TorqueScript. There are 50–55 events included in the game by default, 25 input and 27–30 output. Outputs can affect the player, player's client, the brick itself, another brick, or the minigame. All interaction with events is done through a GUI. Players can also download more events using the game's Add-On system, allowing them easier ways to perform complicated actions, for example using an Add-On to create a bot "vehicle" instead of creating a horse then eventing it to become a bot. Shadows and Shaders
Included in the game at August 9, 2012, Revision 169, also known as V21, removed interiors and terrain and added GLSL Shadows and shaders, along with gamemodes, skyboxes and day/night cycle customization. History
A prototype version of Blockland, known as 'Vanilla Blockland', was released on November 14th, 2004. The "Globe and Mail" wrote an article on this early version of Blockland in which creator Eric Hartman claimed the game had gained 20,000 users in the 4 years since it "became big".[7] At one point, Lego offered to buy Blockland from Hartman and give him a job working on the game for at least a year.[8] After not hearing back from Lego for some time, Eric went ahead with working on a more complete, retail version of Blockland, having removed all of the copyrighted Lego content. The retail version of Blockland was completed and released on February 24, 2007. Recently a new update was released, removing interiors and terrain but adding more dynamic lighting to builds. So i'm pretty sure: Roblox - 2004, Minecraft - 2008 and Blockland - 2005. All copied off ROBLOX. |

| Neither of them copied eachother, as roblox is a game with ingame currency, though in minecraft the only ingame currency is on servers and once you pay fro the game, that is it. In here, there are hats. In minecraft, there are only hats in mods. Roblox is a completely different idea and game. Neither of them copied eachhother, though MAY have been inspired by lego, though I am not completely sure. |

Lets see. ROBLOX was made before Minecraft. Minecraft was NOT based off ROBLOX, he said so.
They are both different games.

| My god. This is so stupid. NEITHER OF THEM COPIED EITHER. THEY ARE COMPLETELY DIFFERENT GAMES MADE BY COMPLETELY DIFFERENT PEOPLE. THE PEOPLE WHO MADE EACH GAME DON'T EVEN LIVE IN THE SAME CONTINENT. STOP THIS RIDICULES AND POINTLESS WAR. Seriously. Just stop. Don't hate on Minecraft if you're a Robloxian and don't hate on Roblox if you're a Minecrafter. Stop this nonsense and just agree that both games are great. |
