Apocalypse Rising Guide V 2.00

V2.00 Is currently the complete guide, I have fixed everything I could find, The next update will come when Apocalypse Rising gets an update that requires a new section or edits to the current ones.

(Note: Many people say that this guide is copy and pasted, I assure you the only thing copy and pasted in this guide is the part on health regeneration on which I gave credit and linked to Gus's original forum. The rest was hand typed by me using my knowledge of the game.)

V2.00 ChangeLog: I fixed some spacing issues caused from copy and pasting from my notepad into the forum.

(This guide is a work in progress and parts of it may not be fully completed or missing)

Apocalypse Rising is a survival game based off the popular Arma 2 mod "DayZ", Though AR is drifting off into what is sure to be an exciting version far from the original mod. This game is filled with fast pace action that will be sure to keep your heart pumping.Spend your time surviving the zombie hordes. Or spend your time hunting down the less prepared, the choice is yours.

-- Controls --

ADS- Right Click (This allows you to aim down the sights of your weapon)
G- Inventory (This allows you to quickly pull up your inventory screen)
R- Reload (Reloads the weapon you currently have active)
M- Map (This allows you to quickly pull up a map of the world, only works if you have a map in your inventory)
Left Shift- Sprint (Allows you to run at a faster pace, your hunger and thirst depletes faster though.)

-You can customize your controls by opening your inventory and click on the control you wish to change on the bottom left.

((Sprint Warning! Holding down left shift for 10 seconds or pressing it 10 times in a row will cause a screen about sticky keys to come up, to avoid this sprint for about 7 seconds tap the space bar and repeat.))

-- Basic Starter Tips --

1- Get away from the coast, Yes the large city and smaller towns along the coast may look tempting. But these serve as great traps for bandits looking to pick up some kills. Grab what you can some food a backpack maybe and head north.

2- Find high grade loot, High grade loot also known as Military grade loot can be found at different places among the world. Examples: Firehouses, Police Stations, Military Airfields, Military Tents and the Forest Military Installation. You will need loot from places like this if you plan to have a long happy life.

3- Groups, Have a friend who enjoys this game. Or maybe someone who has never played it you can bring into this amazing world? Well bring them on! Invite them to a group and meet up. You can share supplies and be better guarded against the harsh world.

4- Bandits, Bandits are your worst enemy. They will kill you for nothing but a can of beans if they so wish. As stated in tip 1 they will often set up traps. Example:"I left an extra MK at the airfield". Chances are you won’t find a MK, But a masked figure ready to unload his clip into you and take what you worked hard to get.

5- Vehicles, Vehicles can be your best friend in this game. Or your enemy. While they let you get around the map quicker than usual they will also draw lots of attention to you. And you might have a run in with that masked figure I mentioned earlier.

6- Spawn Camera, Your Spawn camera is what you see after you have joined the game and got past the menu. This camera will allow you to see the area around where you are about to spawn. Use this to your advantage to keep yourself from being spawnkilled.

7- Survive, No one can live forever. The sad truth is that no matter how good you’re set up. You will eventually die. Enjoy your time in the game while it lasts.Because around every turn is a chance for your trip to end.

-- Dr. Pepper --

1- Why make a section on Dr. Pepper? Well because it’s rare. You won’t find it often and its quite the happy times when you do. Me and a group have players have found one before and built it a stand to worship it on. You can drink it if you wish but keep in mind you might not see another.

-- Weapons --

(Also, Some of the guns can spawn with a silencer which honestly turns it into a whole new varient of that gun, The silencer will make your gun shots less audible to the people around you, The drawback is they also make the gun deal less damage)

-You can change the firing mode on weapons by hitting "F"

-Certain types of ammo can work in more then one weapon.

-Ammo can also spawn in different capacitys, For example: 5.56x45mm can spawn in 30, 50 and 100 round magazines.

1-Crowbar
2-Hatchet
3-Makarov
4-CZ75
5-Revolver
6-M1911
7-Maverick
8-Double-Barrled shotgun
9-Mosin-Nagant
10-Lee-Enfield
11-M1 Garand
12-M870
13-SKS
14-Fedorov
15-PPSH
16-M9
17-Tec-9
18-G18
19-USP45
20-Mp5
21-M14
22-SCAR-L
23-Auto 5
24-G36K1
25-M4A1
26-AK47
27-Mk48
28-M249
29-M1014
30-Model 459
31-M3 Grease Gun

-- Vehicles --

-Current Vehicles: Civilian Car, Military Jeep, Pickup Truck, Tractor, Military Truck (Ural)

-Vehicles can be found on the map either at the spawn points they start at, Or ones left by older players who have died or left the game.

-Vehicles can be damaged, For example: A damaged engine will make you travel slower and a damaged fuel tank will make your gas leak.

-Car parts are needed to repair vehicles, These can be found often in industrial buildings.

-A Jerry Can is needed to refuel a vehicle, You can fill these cans as gas tanks found around the map.

-Vehicles allow you to run over people and zombies, Now aint that fun?

-- Loot Runs --

-Running into a town quickly and grabbing everything and leaving sounds like a good idea right? Well its not. In most cases when aproaching a town or city you want to approach slowly, Listen for gunshots and look for zombies who have agro. Don’t want to run in on another player who may shoot you out of greed or purely from being frightened.

-Take a moment and plan, Check your inventory and see what it is you need. Not what it is you want, The risk is never worth it in an unforgiving world.

-Once you have your plan execute it. Get in grab what you need and get out, Remember to always have a bug out plan in case something goes wrong.

-Some Important loot buildings: Grocery Stores - Fire Houses - Police Stations

-- Inventory --

-You will be spending a lot of time in your inventory, Everything you loot will be stored in this menu.

-You can see how many bullets are left in a clip of ammo by the number located on the bottom right of the items emblem.

-Items in the menu can be right or left clicked on to bring up options.

1--Drop (Drops the item)
2--Drop To Store (Drop But It Will Not Despawn)
3--Eat (Consumes the item)
4--Drink (Consumes the item)
5--Use Bloodbag (Fills your health bar)
6--Make Fireplace (Creates a firepit that can be lit at your location, When lit this fireplace can be used to cook meat)

(Eat and Drink only appear on food and drink items, Obviously your not gonna take a bite out a car engine.. Unless your into that kind of thing. Use bloodbag also only appears on bloodbags in your inventory.)

-Certain items of a larger size will take up more slots of inventory then others. These range from 2-3 slots. You can see how many slots the item is taking up by the squares in the top left of the items emblem.

-Backpacks can expand your inventory, they are found as the following: Military Pack - Survival Pack - Hiking Pack - Fanny Pack. Each one will let you hold more loot in your inventory.

-On the side of your inventory you may notice some vertical slots, These are for your tools. Your tools include the following:

1-Matches (Allows you to light firepits, And dont worry your mom wont be mad about you playing with matches this time)
2-Binoculars (Allows you to see further distance but removes your peripheral vision)
3-Map (Activates the M key allowing you to see a map of the AR world)
4-GPS (Shows your exact location on the map)
5-Entrencher (Allows you to move items in the game)
6-Watch (Adds a gui to your screen showing you the server time)
7-Compass (Adds a gui to your screen showing which way you are facing)

-These tools can be lifesaving if you use them the right way.

-- Meat --

-You may come across an animal in your travels, These may be shot or taken out in any manner you see fit. Once killed you may harvest meat from the animals.

-The meat you harvest is raw, To cook it use a lit firepit and when near it click the meat in your inventory and click the menu option for "Cook Meat". Your raw meat is now cooked meat!

-- Clothing --

-Different types of clothing can be found around the map, The clothing has no effect on gameplay but can make your character look just a little bit cooler.

-- Bases --

-Making a base sounds a like a fun idea, And even sounds like a smart one at that. But its this true? You decide! There are many ups and downs to picking a place and declaring it your base. Let’s go over the ups first.

Ups-
1-Feeling Of Home
2-Small Place To Defend (Unless you dub an entire city your base, In that case good luck)
3-Place to store items
4-Place to restock apon deaths

Now let’s see the downs.

Downs-
1-Easy to be cornered
2-Your things can be stolen while you’re out
3-You never know what’s outside that door waiting for you

I personally do set up bases, Me and a friend or two will usually set up a base and take turns making loot runs. This seems to work for us. Never at any time does base we created stay unguarded.

(Using the entrencher to build up barricades can help in the security of your base also)

-- Groups --

-Groups are important when playing Apocolaypse Rising, They give you the manpower needed to take or defend key locations in the world.

-To start a group you must click the start group button. (Can be found directly below the open inventory button on the top right of your screen)

-Once clicked the tab will change to say group, Apon clicking it a second time a menu will drop down. This menu includes:

1-Leave Group - Allows you to leave the group you are currently in.
2-Set Leader - Allows you to set someone else as the leader of the group.
3-Invite Player - Allows you to type a users name to send an invite to join your group.

-If you are invited to a group a message will appear asking you to accept or decline their request.

-When in a group all other members will have a gui with their name above their head.

-You can not damage a player who is in a group with you.

-- Revenge --

-You just died, And the man who killed you is laughing and bloating about it like there is no tomorrow. Of course you want to harshly find a gun run to where he killed you and reclaim what was yours! Well you shouldn’t, Let me tell you why.

1-You probably won’t be as armed as him, Since he just stole everything you have.

2-When you die it’s like a new slate, You shouldn’t have memories of a past life.

-If you really must seek out this fellow, Do it slowly. Dont run to where you died. Get armed and find out where he is later. At least then you have a better chance of killing the fellow.

-- Bandit Tips --

-I do not enjoy being a bandit, But I do not hate people who are. They make the game fun, And without them it would just be a zombie shooter. Bandits can read this part to get a leg up, And survivors can read as well so you dont fall for these tips.

1- Be bold, You’re a bandit so act like it. Dont be afraid to jump out into the open and mow down you enemies.

2- Set up traps, Most veteran survivors won’t fall for your traps but new players might. Great examples are things like this:

-StarvinMarvin123 Died
-SteveTheBandit: NO STARVIN!!! ILL LEAVE YOUR MK IN THE TOWER FOR YOU! (Assuming Marvin is a safechatter and cant respond to this)

-Following this conversation, A player might be interested in that MK that’s at the tower. But there is no MK at that tower. Just you with a gun waiting to hear some poor footsteps approaching.

3- Groups!, It might seem like being alone is more of the bandit thing to do. But the power of a group of skilled bandits is amazing. If you have some friends who play the bandit style I encourage you to team up with them. See all you can get done.

4- Act tough, Talk in chat about how amazing your place is, How no one can kill you. Because saying things like that is bound to lead some poor soul to come seeking a kill on you.

5- Like I said before, Have fun! If banditry is your play style enjoy it, Have a great game and I wish you the best of luck hunting.

-- Thirst --

-Your thirst bar is the bar to the farthest right hand side of your screen, This visualizes how thirsty your character is. When it reaches the bottom your health will deplete and you will die unless you bring the bar back up.

-Thirst can be kept up by drinking sodas which can be found commonly around the map.

-- Hunger --

-Your hunger bar is the middle bar on your screen, This visualizes how hungry your character is. When it reaches the bottom your health will deplete and you will die unless you bring the bar back up.

-Thirst can be kept up by eating cans of food, MREs or cooked meat which can all be found among the map. (Cooked meat is harvested from animals as raw meat and must be cooked)

-- Heli Crashes --

-Helicopter Crashes can be found randomly through the AR map, They will spawn for a time then despawn and move to another random location.

-These crash sites include high grade military loot and usually in a high quantity.

-Helicopter crashes can be seen by the plume of smoke that emits from them.

-- Health Regeneration --

(This section is explained by Gus, The original forum can be found here: http://www.roblox.com/Forum/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=89008513)

-When eating food, or using blood bags, your health will now REGENERATE over a short period of time.

-There are four categories of health items:

-SMALL FOOD: Items like Pringles and Cheez-Its will heal 10 HP over 10 seconds.
-MEDIUM FOOD: Items like Beans and Tuna will heal 15 HP over 15 seconds.
-LARGE FOOD: Items like MRE's and Steak will heal 30 HP over 15 seconds.
-BLOOD BAGS: These will heal 100 HP over 10 seconds.

-There are some rules with this new system!

-If you are hurt while regenerating from any health item, your regen will STOP.
-Using blood bags in the middle of a fight will be almost useless.

-If you reach maximum health after using a health item, the regen will STOP.
-Using a blood bag at 90 HP health will not give you more health than 100 HP (Your max)
-Using a blood bag will replenish 120 HP if you are under the effects of painkillers.

-If you use multiple health items at once, the regen effect will STACK.
-Using two/many blood bags will grant you health from both/all at once. (More HP per second)
-Eating five cans of beans at once would heal you 75 HP over 15 seconds.

-- Hero --

-If you are like me and enjoy killing bandits then you will probably end up as a hero. When a player has killed 3 bandits they will be awarded a red headband that allows players to see that you are friendly and have helped keep them safe from pesky bandits. (If you kill an innocent player your headband will be removed and you cant get it again)

-- Bandit Masks --

-A bandit mask is awarded to a player after three survivors are killed. This masks allows other players to spot people who may have negative intentions before they can get close to them.

-- Offensive Kills / Defensive Kills --

-When in your travels you might be fired apon, If you fire back on the lad who has shot at you and kill them it will count as a defensive kill, This will not count towards becoming a bandit.

-On the other hand if you fire apon somone who has not shot at you first and kill them, that will count as an offensive kill and will work towards you becoming a bandit.

-- Character Design --

-Upon Joining the game you will be able to design your characters:

1-Body Vest
2-Skin Color
3-Vest Color
4-Hairstyle
5-Outfit

-Be creative and use your imagination.

-- Perks --

-Perks give you special boosts to aspects of your character, the current in game perks are listed below.

1-Cardio -- Your thirst and hunger will deplete slower then other players while sprinting.

2-Survivalist -- It takes 5 minutes longer for your health and thirst to deplete.

3-Ninja -- You make zero noise while jumping and walking, and must be closer for zombies to detect you.

4-Adrenaline -- While your health is below 30% it will quickly regenerate and give you a burst of speed.

-- ZOMBIES --

-So I’m sure you were waiting for this section, well here it is. Zombies.

-Zombies are found throughout the map in towns, cities and many other places.

-Zombies are attracted to you based off your range from them, When you are in the range of a zombie it will draw to you like a magnet and either you will lose it, It will kill you or you will kill it.

-A good way to lose zombies is running into buildings, due to roblox not having a tracking system so to speak. The zombies will simply hug the wall. (Warning sometimes the zombies will slide down the wall and continue the chase)

-Military zombies are faster and stronger, Therefore always be on your guard when approaching a military zone of the map.

-Zombies may also drop loot when killed but it its not guranteed

-- Game Features --

-These are some of the minor features of the game you should also know.

-Windows break when shot.

-When you die a corpse is left behind to identify who you were.

-Journals and pages can be found to shed light on trinity corp and life before the outbreak.

-AR Does not have admins any admin for sale is a scam.

-You will die from jumping off the edge.

-No the boat at the docks does not move.

-Gus does have a house in the game where military loot spawns. (It is located in the NW Area of the map, Thats as close as ill tell you. You can map it out the rest on your own.)

--

-- Thanks for checking out the guide this is (Version 2.00) I will be updating with new information as the game is updated and as I have more time to create new sections about different aspects of the game--

-- For some of the information I used to write this guide I credit the following: iDisgrace,salman110,SkateBored,boda157 and of course Gus and Keth for making this great game happen! --
