Alright. I'm posting this a bit early because on opening day I am going to post two entries instead of the one I will usually be posting. This will be a week by week story, much like a TV series, but with words instead of pictures. I'll post a new entry every Monday around 3:00 P.M. (Eastern time).
I hope you guys enjoy this series as much as I like writing for you.

April 16, 2047 Location: A town. Abandoned, but its large.
Paper. Glorious paper. I've missed it so much: its been so long since I've found a journal or notebook or any paper of any kind. Its been at least to score of sunrises. At least.
John doesn't see why I worry about trivial things such as paper when we hardly have enough food to feed our clan. And honestly I don't know why I worry about paper either except it makes me feel human. Its almost as if I'm still writing a letter to Megan or Jordan. It helps me not forget writing. How to read. How to form words with a pen. It helps me stay sane, even though with all the notebooks I've filled since this whole thing began, all it does is take up more and more space that could be used for important supplies.
I am rather selfish.
Besides, this journal does help others. If I wouldn't have had it, no one would know the date. If I wouldn't have written the dates down, we would have lost that aspect of normal life also.
Its my turn to take watch over the people though. To keep them safe from..
I must go. Tomorrow we scout the town. I shall fill you in then.

I like the idea of each chapter being written as if it were being read by another survivor it really immerses you into the story; I feel like I came across these notes, and wonder whether or not you survive the tale.
Well, done. :-)
Can't wait for the next part. |

April 17, 2047 Location: Delve
We found a sign stating the towns name. We are currently in Delve.
We searched the town today, not the whole town, but quite a bit of it. We have found more backpacks to replace ones that have worn down, and even some for the smaller children we have in our group. We've also found a good bit of other supplies, things I haven't eaten in..many sunrises.
Perhaps even before "the cure".
Today was a good day. We found an old torn up map of the surrounding area. It looks like someone has been here recently, and due to the intricate details of the map, they might still be around. No one just does all that work and then leaves it behind...
There are so many settlements and other towns near by..we might even be able to stay here. Permanently. But still..if the author of the map were around here..why would they have left the map behind on their trip exploring? Wouldn't they want to catalog further findings? It makes no sense to me. This area may be free of degenerates, but that doesn't mean that the area is safe. Just like John says..
"Trust no one. They will just as easily kill you as help you. If it isn't the diseased trying to kill you, the healthy will."
I don't understand why John calls them diseased. That implies they are just sick. That they could be cured. But they can't.
Didn't we learn that from Jean?
I suppose his scientific mind won't give up on what the rest of us have so long ago. And maybe that's a good thing.
Maybe.
Anyways we found a building that Jeffrey, David, and Jonah are guarding while the rest of us feast. Tonight is a night to forget the degenerates, and to enjoy the overstock of food we have found.
I might even get to eat some candy. Doesn't that sound lovely? |

I said I'd wait until 3, but I decided since you were on I'd post part two of opening day. Its gonna be hard for me to wait patiently week to week to share it with everyone.
I'm quite excited. |

I also like the name you have for the infected.
Will you be exploring concepts such as religion in this story? It would be cool to see how people treat religion, and/or see the world, after all this has gone down. |

I haven't decided yet, it will most likely be based on how mature my audience is.

Thanks, guys!
And Lucky, yes, I find all my self worth in my writing and how good it is. I'm not about to write like a two year old. If you're going to butcher something, make it a cow, not the English language. My philosophy(:

Notice:
My brother brought a few things to my attention, like the possibility of the forest being removed. I have not played the game lately, I have been working so much, so I don't know if this is true. I searched through the update log for the game, and couldn't find anything.
JUST IN CASE THE FOREST SHOULD BE REMOVED, my story will be based on a v4.2.2 map and game, meaning I will not have the new food updates in my story either, (even though this would be nice for survival purposes). I plan on getting on the game either tomorrow or Friday: should I get on and find a different map to go by, I will update my story to fit the newest version of the game.
I would also like to announce new posting dates. I will keep Monday at 3:00 PM, but I'd also like to add Thursday at 2:00 PM to the posting dates. There will be a new journal entry posted at both of these times, every week.
Thank you guys, you're awesome, and I'll see you at 3!

I don't think they will remove the forest ... everyone's most intense encounters come from there.
Just yesterday I headed up there with a hatchet and attacked a group of bandits just for the hell of it. |

April 20, 2047 Location: Delve
Wow, April 20 already! Its already been 4 glorious days since we've found Delve, and all the treasures it holds.
Just today we found compasses, shovels, matches...even an axe we can use to cut down nearby trees!...we will definitely be warm tonight. This place is a gold mine. Already we have more food than we can carry stored up in the building we're in. I think John really is making plans to stay here. I've had more peace about this place than I've had about anything since this disaster began. We have even found guns, rifles, and even though they should only be used for emergency situations, they might come in handy if the owner of the map we found ever comes back around.
We have to be prepared for everything.
John wants me to start keeping an inventory of everything we have. Why, I don't know. I think he suspects that someone is stealing from the abundancey of food we have. Extra food can't be allowed. We have to keep our rations or else we might end up starving someday...
I don't know that I agree with him. Who would steal from the group? Everyone is set on surviving. No one would harm the others like that..we're like a huge family. Just like a family going on vacation for awhile.
All these things trouble me. Oh well, my candle is about to burn out so I suppose I should take inventory now.
INVENTORY: FOOD- 47 cans tuna 7 packages Pringles 13 cans pasta 54 cans beans 22 boxes Cheez-Its 30 cans Pepsi 26 cans Mountain Dew 45 cans Coke 17 cans Crush
WEAPONS- 1 Mosin-Nagant rifle 1 Enfeild rifle 1 M1-Garand rifle 6 Makarov pistols
AMMO- 5 MN mags 1 Enfeild mag 1 M1 mag 15 Makarov mags
TOOLS- 1 Axe 1 Crowbar 3 Compasses 4 boxes matches 1 crudely drawn map 16 logs firewood
