I've been wanting to have a PC for gaming. My current PC runs some of my favorite games such as Fallout 1 and 2, Warcraft 3, Battlefront 2 and Rome Total War with no problems, but I've wanted one that can run the latest games and put me in the master race.
So yeah, I've been thinking about saving up until I have around 700$ (according to Meldo, that's around the price of a decent PC that can run most things at 1080p and 60fps) and order parts to build my own. But, a lot of people have said that if you have a stable desktop, you can just upgrade it.
So, yeah. Here are my specs. Don't laugh, I know they're probably awful. Since I don't know three things about the technicalities of PC, would it be cheaper and more effective to just upgrade what I have, or build my own? I'm leaning towards building my own for the customization and personality, but if I can save enough money, I'd just upgrade.

It's like looking at a mirror of my broken PC.
Anyways, I'm not exactly sure but I'd probably get a new one; give that one to your brother/sister, dad/mother etc. |

@Explicit
Yeah, it's one of those Dell Inspiron desktops.
I might do that, though looking through sites, it looks like a lot of people have upgraded their inspirons for gaming purposes. I'm still lenient on buying a new one.

| One would assume that if he's going for a 'master race' gaming PC, then at least a AMD 7750/7770 with an i3 3220. Probably 4/8gb ram & 500gb/1tb hdd. |

@Killer, What games are you intending to play, and what resolution and settings? Also, budget? |

No idea. Like I said, I'm not technical at all. If I do decide to build, I may ask a few VGFers like Meldo or Explicit about what they have and may base my purchases around that.

| Need info before I go look for something, also do you need new peripherals (1080p monitor, mouse & keyboard, etc). |

Well, things like Planetside 2, Fallout 3/NV/4 (for mods mostly), Elder Scrolls games (for mods only. God help me if I play Skyrim unmodded), I'll try and get The Witcher 3 for it, and stuff like that.
I'll probably start looking at parts when I have about 700 or so.
I want the best possible graphics, but they don't matter much if they get in the way of performance.

GTA in real life? Sounds good.
@Explicit
By that, I mean like, what you are using in your PC.

| Is the 700 JUST for the desktop, or do you need monitor, keyboard 'n mouse? |

I was just going to pour the 700 into the desktop, but I didn't think about the cost of new peripherals.
I've been looking into one of those mechanical keyboards and I really need a new mouse. What would you recommend for monitors? Price doesn't matter here.

@Exlicit
I'll build it myself. I don't have much technical knowledge, but from what I've seen and heard, it's not too hard and anyone with an hour of time can do it.

Any 1920x1080 monitor in general which doesn't break when you set it up and turn it on; some of the cheapest ones are £79 but for ones with decent stands and of decent build probably £100. No need on splashing out and the higher resolutions yet really, unless you're a cash cow.
Make sure your mouse has a good DPI for more accurate gaming; 3,000 is good for me, but you can go up to 4,000, 5,000 and higher if you want. |

Looks pretty decent, from what I can tell. I'll save this build somewhere so I can look at it again when I buy.
