[I don't really post on forums, so expect this explaination to be a bit bad.]
I've checked the suggestion forums and I'm actually quite suprised nobody's posted anything like this (according to my searches.)
Basically, my suggestion is like the BillboardGUIs but different because instead of scaling when you move away from it, and always facing the screen, this GUI is like a decal, being on the face of a block. It would span the whole block (unless a specific size range is specified) and could be filled up with the usual assorted Labels, Frames, and buttons.
"Why not just use Decals?" Text, screen, button, and other Decals already fill up a good portion of the database, and this would allow dynamic changing text and frames/shapes on the side of a Part without making a [metric] ton of decals.
"What about ClickDetectors?" In some cases, people don't want their places crammed with 50 Parts that just work as the buttons on one screen, not to mention the 50 clickdetectors that would usually be required. In some cases you could just use GUIButtons instead, which would remove the need for so many ClickDetectors and you'd only need a few Parts. You could have buttons flush with the surface of a Part without the ClickDetector and other Part's Collision Box Fighting over who gets the input when you click.
"That's a horrible idea." Then don't use it if it's added. I'm not suggesting the removal or alteration of anything, just adding something new, that would be completely optional.
So, if you like this idea, support, like, vote, or whatever it is you do on these forums, and if you don't like it, I'll accept any reasonable points you have.
Hm... While I'm at it, what ever happened to those Rope Joints that were demonstrated along with Water? I haven't heard any news about them in a long time... |

I support.
Although how would scale and offset work? Would scale be relative to the blocks size, and offset be 1/256th of a stud? |

| Or would 1 scale be 1 stud and offset be normal offset (or nothing) |

| Also, I think SurfaceGui would be a better name (Like SurfaceSelection) |

| Those are good ideas Notunknown, and that is a better name, but I don't think I can actually change the name of the thread... Can I? |

*Ahem* Bump!
(That's how you bump a post right? I just don't want to see my idea gather dust in the back of the forums.) |

So basically a 2D, 3D Billboard GUI, so when you move around it, it wouldn't rotate while you do, and it wouldn't grow bigger the further you go, right? i don't know if i am understanding this right but you can make it not grow, i have done it, just done use a frame :P... but i guess if you want to use a frame, could work.

| Also you can edit if you do want it to rotate/grow or not... sometimes people want that, or only make it rotate on X axis but not Y, or maybe only Y and not X :P... that be cool! |

| I very much support! I suppose we could use it to make computer screens so you'd see what's on the screen without actually being sat on the seat. I think offset and scale would work like the mesh offset and scale? |

| @TheDoctor4816 That's actually one of the main ideas I was going for, the whole screen deal. It's annoying making and uploading decals just to switch what it says, and such a system is in no way dynamic, so it would be a huge improvment. Yeah I think the offset and scale could work like that. Perhaps the offset sets how far away from the attached face it is? |

| Yeah, that is really annoying, and to get HD decals you have to split the image into sections and upload them one by one and then piece them together.. Another thing roblox should improve dramatically! But yeah, we could easily change the font, and basically everything you can do with a screengui but on a part face! |

I hate to do this again so soon... Bump! (Come to think of it, do you actually have to type in "bump" to bump a post?) |

| No. :P Also i have a problem, when i insert models they always insert at an angle, and because of the new studio, you can't just drag the model over a flat surface.. |

@TheDoctor, have you tried all of the tools? I think the dragger (mouse looking one) still has that functionality, but I haven't tried yet. I'm pretty sure ROBLOX wouldn't remove that functionality... Kind of like how they wouldn't remove bevels... -.- Also, if that doesn't work you could just make a thread in the help forums.
Back on topic now... I don't actually know what else to put... Does anyone else have some good ideas we could put here as well? |

| I think they've also removed duplicate.. When i press Ctrl + D it just pans the camera right. I have to right click, copy and then paste a model-That also seemed to fix the tilt issue though! :L |
