Earlier today there was a petition for gmf's USA to become Communist. I am sure that will never happen because gmf tries to be as realistic as possible. Now let's take a look at Communism.

1. Communism was a great idea because everyone had to share everything.

2. If the government abuses power, the plan fails.

3. The government always abuses power.

This shows that people are too greedy for Communism to work. So Communism shouldn't be used in gmf's USA.

Under the system of communism, people can get by without working hard. Because everyone(except for the leaders) is all equal, they get paid all the same, so nothing motivates them to work hard. The government has the power, and the people have no freedom. The people have to listen to the government, and the government makes all the decisions. The people have no control of their own lives. People cannot chose their leaders. The USSR made it so that people could vote, but they only had one candidate to choose from, so it did not matter weather they voted or not.

You have proven my next point:

1. The USA needed a way to convince people the USSR was really bad.

2. They labeled Communism as "bad."

3. People don't realize that Stalin is the bad thing, not Communism.

Communism strives to make everyone equal.

Result:

Everyone is equally miserable.

Communism is a system that is impossible to use.

Rendering it useless to any society other than a Utopia, and utopias do not exist.

When you get Communism, you end up with brutal countries like NK and you have no rights whatsoever.

82% of software is pirated in China, one of the highest in the world. Corruption is common among government employees. Between 1978 and 2003, an estimated $50 billion was smuggled out of the country by corrupt officials. A legal verdict can be changed from guilt to innocence, death sentence can turn into not-guilty verdict and length of prison terms can be reduced by bribing officials. The armed forces employs naval vessels and airplanes for various smuggling activities. The police stations often open covert gambling houses, or they can provide protection for them. In 2009, 106,000 public officials in China were convicted of corruption. The thing with China (and communism in general) is that even if they do have large police forces, the police don't care a thing about their job as long as they get their pay.

Education in communist countries is strictly controlled by the government, and the government does not want students to know about capitalism or foreign countries, thus promoting ignorance. The Soviet government said American literature was evil and banned it from schools.

Think, would you want to have your life controlled by the government, or be free to express yourself?

In Communism, everyone gets equally nothing. You'd need an incredibly competent and selfless government to run Communism. Though, you could probably fix the labor problem through some modern methods and chemicals that have been invented.

Indeed. Even China strayed from true Communism, though, and they still have all of those problems.

You don't GET IT. Communism wouldn't provide a functional society even if there were a benevolent government.

The most prevalent criticism of communism is that rooted in economic theory. After all, some of the other things associated with communism (such as tyrannical dictatorships) could in theory be avoided. However, economists argue that communism is structured specifically to result in economic stagnation. Resources cannot be effectively allocated in a communist system. Economic calculation is impossible without a feedback system like prices. This is partly because value is subjective rather than objective. Value depends on people's choices and decisions, not on a measure such as the cost of production. Also, since private property is abolished and everything is collectively owned there is no incinative to work. Therefore, things do not get done because the workers do not work. This happened in the Soviet Union not long before it economically collasped.

Let's look at the success of communis, shall we?
What about North Korea?

Pyeongyang is filled with people living in a modern city being rich and fat off of "plz dun maek nukes" and "plz fed ur ppl" money, while the rest of the country is equally dirt poor.

The people are brainwashed into believing that their leader is God and thay he provides for and caress for them.

If you step out of line you are sent to work in a concentration camp untill your death.

In Communist societies, every may be treated equal, but they're treated equally brutal.

NK beats their citizens for the simplest things. They have no rights. No say. Not to mention, there working conditions are beyond terrible. China runs its entire industrial system using underpaid sweatshop workers. Everyone is treated like garbage. People still end up neglected on the streets. China isn't even purely Communist. The greed of its industry has come up from behind them and risen to power. They have rich, and they have poor. Communism leads to nothing other than brutality, neglect, and disgust.

COMMUNISM WITH AN UNSELFISH GOVERNMENT DOES NOT WORK.
YOU CAN HAVE ANARCHO-COMMUNISM AND IT WILL STILL NOT WORK.

Communism strives for the complete equality of all incomes, and therefore, everything. As income approaches complete equality, productivity disappears. For example: people work so they can make money to support themselves. They work driven by the incentive of making more money and succeeding.

In capitalist systems, he who chooses not to work suffers the consequences while he who works receives the incentives, money, which he is working for. Human nature includes a desire to "do better" and, therefore, make more money or advance in a job. In an attempt to make more money, people are driven naturally work harder and longer, seek further education for themselves, and develop skills which distinguish them as rare talents among that labor which is available as supply.

Under true communism, income is completely equal. When there is nothing to achieve by working harder or longer, people begin to become idle. People begin to work less or not work at all because there is no longer the incentive of making more money or advancing in job. When there are no workers, production drops to nothing. It will then be true that all incomes are equal but this equal income will be zero.

Communism's original and most basic principles deal with the rich owners and the workers or proletariats. Unfortunately for Marx's cause, a third order was coming to power and it would prove to be the larger and more powerful than either the proletariat or the capitalist aristocracy. This third middle grounds was completely misjudged by Marx and incorrectly lumped in with the bourgeois rich.

Marx's entire theory was based on class struggle and a difference in these classes forcing a revolution to be followed by an "equality" of all classes (the irony: Marx and Engels were factory owners when they published the Communist Manifesto and Das Kapital!). The petit-bourgeois, Marx's term for the middle class, was only to further divide the upper and working classes by an irreconcilable rift. In reality, the opposite happened and the middle class actually bridged any "rift," that is to say if there was one in the first place!

The arrival of the middle class practically ruins any chance for this revolution as well as any need for it. Further it presents a variable unaccounted for simply because it fits incorrectly into the communist and socialist theory.

Strange that people put faith in a theory that completely misjudges the majority of the population!

Does NK have an unselfish government?

I thought not.

Look if everyone is not greedy and selfish Communism works perfectly.

Before I this becomes a four page argument about which government is better. I would like to add that there are multiple types of Communism. It was an idea of a perfect government which it might be.

But there are some issues.

1.We are not all equal.

2. People blame the government which is completely correct to do. We as people cannot contain something like this.

TomCat you're the biggest idiot I've ever seen arguing the subject of Communism. You clearly know nothing of the point, and this thread was pointless.

These communist sheeple keep ignoring my posts and continue to fight the straw man "selfish-government communism" instead of defending the actual idea and concept.
