Avalanche studios says that the PlayStation 4 will be more poweful than PC for years to come.
Do you agree with avalanche, or disagree? |

If they mean that towards the latest PC, however, I'll lol. |

Sounds rather promising. I think I'll wait for the PS4, since I want the PS3 Legacy Bundle. ...I can wait.

| You guys are only looking at the '8GB' part of the RAM specs. The really interesting part is that it is GDDR5, it's far more powerful than you think. |

I've said this before, there's a reason it is used in HIGH-end GPUs and such and it is also why sony have chosen to use it in the PS4. The sheer throughput of GDDR5 more than makes up for any access-latencies it may have compared to DDR3. Also considering that the RAM will be shared between the CPU and GPU in the PS4 it just makes more sense to use it than DDR3. |

“It’s a perfect fit for the types of games we do, and we are confident that we’ll bring open-world gaming to a whole new level because of it. I’m glad Sony decided to go with 8gb RAM because it means that the PS4 will out-power >>most PC’s<< for years to come.”
Well, they said most. Which from the PS4 specs we currently know of, PCs still stomp consoles. |

Theres also a reason its not used in PCs, its bad as normal RAM.
Also, PC graphics cards dont need more than 1GBs of dedicated memory to never get bottlenecked by it, so i believe that in PS3 most of the RAM will be allocated to rest of the system and not the GPU. |

I can guarantee you that it will outperform any DDR3 solution that Sony could reasonably have put in the PS4. Also considering that the PS4 will be expected to last as long as the current generation of consoles has lasted, by the time it is replaced PCs will be far beyond DDR3, using DDR4 or maybe something else at the high-end. So in order for the PS4 to remain competitive for developers years into it's life cycle, it will need to be specced accordingly, GDDR5 provides the solution to keep it from being quite so badly outclassed as the x360 (512MB shared) and the PS3 (2x256MB dedicated) are now and will allow developers to create the games they want, no matter the scale. |

Doubt it, the PS4 might have the potential to be more powerful than current PC's, but it won't be like that for very long. I'm only somewhat sure about this*** But new computer models are made very year, being more and more powerful. Game consoles probably take that same leap in technological advancement every 4 years or so. -Do not summon me again!- |
