No.
A person being a mascot, is kinda wrong.
This would be like:
The Detroit Blacks
The Maine Caucasians
The Texas Mexicans |

Indians = no Blackhawks = no Braves = no Tomahawk Chop = yes |

I'd rather shower at Penn State than root for Michigan. |

| Redskins, Indians, and Blackhawks are all essentially the same. They are all terms for native americans. I dont see a problem with any, but if you have a problem with one, you should have a problem with them all. |

| I don't take personal offense to the Redskins, they were named before the age of political correctness and I don't see them changing it. |

| Yet the NCAA has a problem with UND being named the Fighting Sioux. |

| From my perspective, you should be able to name a team whatever you want if it's done out of respect. Take the ND Fighting Sioux, the Sioux are an extremely important part of ND's history, and, well, there really isn't much else to name a team after up there. There's nothing done to be offensive towards the Sioux, it's done out of respect. In which case, I'd prefer they name the team the Sioux. |

| I'd actually be sad to see the Sioux go, it's such a great look, and it's probably the most respectful to the tribe. (The Seminoles are REALLY backwards) |

It's an offensive name to some Native Americans, because they are not indians. The only reason they are called that, is because Columbus thought he was in the Indies when he first landed here.
