I have a strong, excellent morale army of 120 (excluding those garrisoned in towns/ccastles) comprised of Sarranid Mamlukes (about 20), mercenary cavalry (40), Sarranid master archers (25), archer horsemen (15), and 20 Sarranid master archers.
I'm playing as a female (apparently it's supposed to be harder and more interesting, so yeah.)
Vassal of Sultan of Sarranid Sultanate.
I have over 400 renown.
From tarriffs, rents, loot, rewards etc I have over 60,000 Denars in my pockets.
My relation with the Sarranid Sultanate and individual Emirs/Sultan is great, and I have decent relations with some nearby Swadian nobles.
I own the towns of Tulga and Ichamur, as well as the village of Zagush and a nearby castle (do I lose these if become independent? D:)

| Oh and to mention, the Kherjit Khanate has little land left and it would be relatively simple to seize the rest of their land if I tried; their Khan is held captive by the Sultanate too. |

What is your honor rating and right to rule?
Also to create a faction just continuously take fiefs until the Sultan refuses to give you it, then you refuse to accept his decision and become independent. |

| My honour is about 50, and my 'right to rule' (only just found out about) is 60. |

| You could but then your castle/whatever you captured would be steamrolled by the Kingdom of whoever you stole from. |

I would wait till I had about 4 cities close to eachother, and not in the middle of the faction you are choosing to leave.
If you want to keep your places, you will need to renounce your oath and tell your leader that you are keeping your fiefs, or you need to capture a place and if your leader doesn't give it to you when you ask for it, you can renounce your oath right there, rebel, and keep the place you conquered.
But to answer your question, no, I would wait till I got more fiefs. |

@Cat, I'd go for the rest of the Khanate's lands, and they're in a terrible state.
@Altair, I currently have 300 extra units spread out between Ichamur, Tulga and the castle.
@Willing, I have two cities close to each other: Tulga and Ichamur. |

| If you're a vassal of a faction and own the castles, then you'll have to resign. This removes the ownership. However, it takes a bit of time for the castle to have a new owner and be garrisoned, so you could seize the opportunity then. |

Not really replying to what you said to me, but, lucky. I'm with the rhodoks and the sarranids & khergits are massacring our fiefs.. |

| I'd recommend a relatively larger army, maybe 200-300 at the lowest. Like Altair said, Huscarls and Vaegir Archers or Rhodok Crossbowmen are an excellent choice. Mamlukes or Swadian Knights are also a decent choice in place of the Huscarls, but lack the massive shields. |

@tgls
It's Mount & Blade or Mount & Blade Warband and the entire collection can usually be found for around $10-$15 when on sale. Or if you just want one of the games, about $2.50-$5 for M&B or $9.99 for Warband.
The sequel, Mount & Blade II: Bannnerlord, should be releasing this year. |

@TGLS
Firstly, you make your character. You'll take a multiple-choice "quiz" about your history which will determine your starting skills and stats.
After that, you'll choose which faction's land you'll want to start at. (Note* You will not start as a vassal of that faction, you'll simply be in the land)
From there you can pretty much do whatever you want. You can become a mercenary for a king and become a vassal from there, you can become a bandit or you could even form your own faction. |

| We can do this the easy way, or the hard way. |
