Evil Dead remake sequel already in the works?
"Friday night, Fede Alvarez brought his Evil Dead remake to SXSW, where it was met with a thunderous crowd response. After the movie was over, the director confirmed that Sony Pictures is moving forward on Evil Dead 2 and that a screenplay is already in the works."
Here are some reviews on Twitter:
"I haven't closed my eyes in 25 years ... I did it 4 times last night. Well done!"
"Evil Dead certainly swings for the fences. Easily the goriest big studio release in a decade"
Goodbye Ash & Evil Dead 4. |

Sounds like a bad idea. Sequels don't generally tend to scare as much as their precessor.
Then again neither do remakes.
And this did. So you know what?

WOAH, MAN.
DID YOU JUST PROVIDE ME A LINK TO AN CLIP OF THE REMAKE VERSION OF TCM.
I THOUGHT YOU HATED THAT REMAKE.
And, honestly finding a movie scary is subjective. I have yet to find a horror film that truly disturbed me like the original TCM movie, and maybe Silent Hill. This looks to be a gore-fest.
And, a movie that requires gore to provide horror is not a good horror movie, at all. YOU KNOW THIS.
And, I'm not hating on this film in particular. I'm just saying. |

Hell I don't even remember the remake I only saw it when I was 5.
Anyway lets take a look at the original The Evil Dead, shall we? Terrified audiences, right?
What was it? A Gore fest.
This remake will be a Gore fest with a better story, effects, etc.
So I don't see why it cant be scary or at least a good film. |

I can't recall the original being too gory, but alright.
And, better story? It's essentially the same thing. |

Lets take in the fact that the original came out in 1981 and was filmed around 1979/1980. It was notorious for being beyond gory and for being one of the last major grindhouse films.
And yes the same thing. But here its more grounded. Its not a bunch of people turning into deformed demons flying around and knifing people. |

As the original stands today, it's not particularly gory compared to other films, or this remake.
And, that implies a grounded story equals a better one. |

That's why. Today they have to break expectations and boundaries like the original once did.
A new era of grindhouse entertainment. Real grindhouse entertainment. |

Alright, fair enough.
I'm just saying gore doesn't make a horror movie, if that's the case The Beginning is the best TCM film, you know what I mean?
Look apologies if I came across as a fanboy I'm not trying to say that the originals are automatically better, but the remake on its own two feet, as a film doesn't appeal to me personally: I'll still check it out regardless, as it is an Evil Dead film.
Oh, and once you come back, from the cinema, or whatevs will you be posting what happens? I would like to hear what happens in the film. |

Well the stuff this film has been through. The hard work to get the practical effects right, the tired cast and crew, the MPAA problems. It just sounds like its on the same course as the first two ED movies and that sounds like a good thing to me. Otherwise I couldnt care less about the Gore.
And ill probably post what happens. This is the first film I'm going to see where I know virtually nothing about it so I'm pretty excited. |

| Two thumbs up to the director though, no CGI is tough, but you can tell he's a fan of the original. That's dedication. |

The co writer just announced the sequel will follow directly after this one and still be serious however it will be more like the second half of the movie which he says is "over the top". No idea what that means but it sounds pretty awesome.
