I'm looking around, in disgust. What has happened to the quality of Scripters section? All I see now is just random threads that are barely even relevant to the purpose of the Scripters section. I see arguments left and right, that honestly no one really cares about in the long run. Then I see threads that are actually relevant and the people need genuine help. Yet no one replies to those, except old regulars or even the admins themselves. What has happened?

I really don't see how people like you can swagger into a forum and accuse people of letting it go; we aren't. It's out of our control, we can't do anything about it.

@DrHaximus

I was never accusing anyone of letting it go. I was simply asking what happened.

What do you think happened?

It's pretty easy to see that most of this is because of the people who have never posted here before and didn't know it wasn't supposed to be here.

Nobody listens. I've said it a lot over the history of the forum.

We've run out of things to talk about because to risk talking about something outside of RBX.Lua risks a ban. A risk leading towards a permanent ban.

You're blaming being restricted to lua for this spam? In case you haven't noticed, almost all of it is unrelated to roblox.

This is how to fix spam:

If it's a noob asking for help or a script, politely tell them to go to scripting helpers or free models and leave it at that - don't yell at them.

If it's a spammer or troll, report it and move on. Posting on it will start arguments and lead to 5 page threads at the top of the forum - exactly the opposite of what you wanted.

If people start arguing, tell them to use messages instead.

If people post stuff unrelated to roblox, tell them to find an appropriate forum (this forum is for roblox (and therefore only lua) - you wouldn't join a javascript forum to talk about C++). Allowing unrelated posts opens the door to a whole new wave of spam.

Then use messages, join a chat, join a game, create a group, talk on a different program (skype, x fire, steam), post on another forum, etc.

Lol, Jaccob, you're always whining about how this place has degraded. I've been here since 2007 and it's always been crappy. Get over yourself!

@SN0X

Well, it might as well be. It's still restricted to scripting.

The Scripters Section is going downhill because number one, they are leaving, and number two, new people are joining that don't know anything, and are just curious.

For about a year or so ago, I saw new members join the forum, but they didn't seem to know anything about programming, once I got them ready, there pretty much a mature Scripter, but doesn't visit the Scripters forums.

So instead of yelling, flaming at them guys, actually encourage them to become a scripter.

'We've run out of things to talk about because to risk talking about something outside of RBX.Lua risks a ban. A risk leading towards a permanent ban.'

Actually, I believe this is the issue. Moderation around here is scarce and selective. They punish well respected scripters with warnings and bans about topics THAT WILL PROMOTE GOOD DISCUSSION. Then, all the noobs who come here demanding help, things made for them, other pointless spam do not get CD'd, do not get warnings, carry on posting and wreck the whole community, and the persistence of this sickens me and has already brought this forum down to the level of the rest of Roblox (which is fairly low).

I'm saying that to be elitist, but that is, in some way, what this forum is for. It's NOT for the discussion of Lua and Roblox, it is for the discussion of various topics that bring the intelligent community of scripters together. This is not happening and it is directly related to poor moderation. I don't know who bans the creators of good threads, but if it was Sorcus, I would not be surprised at all. HotThoth on the other hand, is unlikely to be the cause of this and is actually helpful and posts fairly regularly.

This is a warning to moderators of this forum. You will destroy this place beyond recognition if this carries on.

Agreed with Prehistoric and how we're scared of posting.

I ALWAYS hesitate before posting, no matter what, and I usually decide not to post anyway.

I filled my tab bar on an HD screen with spam threads that should have been deleted less than 30 minutes after their creation. Nine of them. And that's just being nice. I'm sure I could get 3 more in there if I was being a bit pickier.
