(Please do mind my grammar/spelling errors, I took 2 hours to think and type this up.)
I've "cooked up" an idea to help us with the ranks, following the departure of fellow Artisan Invidius, and a slight inactivity of the Variantaria ranks.
Rank Descriptions:
-[LOW RANKS]-
Enlist: Replaces Private in the current rank system. Enlists must go through the Syndicate, where they learn the basics in fighting, basic discipline and raid/defense situations. They must pass 1 training in order to advance to Private.
Private: Replaces Corporal in the current rank system. After earning the rank of Private, they must earn a promotion through raid/defenses or promotions.
Specialist: Replaces Sergeant in the current rank system. Look at the description for Private for promotion information.
Corporal: Replaces Staff Sergeant in the current rank system. Look at the description for Private for promotion information.
Sergeant: Replaces Lieutenant in the current rank system. Look at the description for Private for promotion information.
Staff Sergeant: Replaces Captain in the current rank system. Look at the description for Private for promotion information.
Lieutenant: Replaces Combat I in the current rank system. Look at the description for Private for promotion information.
-[MID RANKS]-
Description: Once Lieutenants are promoted, they must join the academy in order to proceed to the mid-ranks.
Mid-Ranks have 2 options in the academy.
1. They can attend academy trainings hosted by High Ranks, which teach leadership, advanced combat and intense discipline. 2. They can use the Varantaria system to proceed through the ranks.
Captain: Replaces Intellect I in the current rank system. To earn this rank, you must join the academy.
Grand Captain: Replaces Design I in the current rank system. To earn this rank, you must either attend 1 training and earn an Academy Point, or follow Part II of the Variantaria Guide (to become the Tier 1 rank).
Major: Replaces Combat II in the current rank system. To earn this rank, you must either attend 2 trainings and earn 2 Academy Points, or follow Part III of the Variantaria Guide (to become the Tier 2 rank)
Professional: Replaces Intellect II in the current rank system. Everything about this rank are the same as the original Professional rank. To earn this rank, you must either attend 5 trainings and earn at least 3 Academy Points, or follow Part III of the Variantaria Guide (to become Professional)
-[HIGH RANKS**]-
Description: Once a certain amount of people earn the rank Professional, Commander Disco will hold an election, where his choice of Professionals can proceed towards the HR tier.
Executive: Replaces Design II in the current rank system in the current rank system. Executives are in charge of hosting Syndicate and Low Rank trainings.
Colonels: Stays the same. They all have the same qualities, but they may not hold Syndicate trainings, but they must be an overseer of Syndicate trainings, they can either train Low Ranks or oversee an Executive train them, and they can train Academy members.
-[PRESTIGE RANKS]-
Description: These ranks are split from the High Ranks, to discuss severe issues, major topics, and assess the High Rank Tier on their activity, how well they train, if they’re a good role model, and similar issues. In any case of a where a vote must be needed, it must be sent down to the High Rank group.
Brigadier: Replaces Artisan in the current rank system. Brigadiers are in charge of making sure trainings go smoothly, they run they Syndicate and promote enlists to Private, and they oversee Low Rank trainings, run any trainings and they can assist department heads, but not as an official department co-head.
General: Stays the same. They all have the same qualities. They oversee all trainings, make sure the Brigadiers are working well and are giving them training reports for trainings they oversee. They can hold any training. They are also heads of each department.
Legislature: Held by the Second in Command Falsewarrior000
Commander: Held by the Commander DiscoHeaven.
----[LOW RANKS]----- [1] Enlist [2] Private [3] Specialist [4] Corporal [5] Sergeant [6] Staff Sergeant [7] Lieutenant -[MID RANKS*]- [8] Captain [9] Grand Captain [10] Major [11] Professional -[HIGH RANKS]- [12] Executive [13] Colonel -[SPECIAL RANK]- [SPEC] Diplomat -[PRESTIGE]- [14] Brigadier [15] General [16] Legislature [-] Commander [-]
*Tier 1 and Tier 2 members from the Varantaria system instantly become Majors.
**The Colonels in the rank right now stay as they are.

Dislike it greatly because no instead of each tier being equal, it introduces elitism and superiority between each of the tiers through the mid rank system
-[MID RANKS*]- [8] Captain [9] Grand Captain [10] Major [11] Professional
Captain: Replaces Intellect I in the current rank system. To earn this rank, you must join the academy.
Grand Captain: Replaces Design I in the current rank system. To earn this rank, you must either attend 1 training and earn an Academy Point, or follow Part II of the Variantaria Guide (to become the Tier 1 rank).
^^^So Desin one is somehow 'grand' compared to Intellects? Unfair, biased, elitist. |

No Grimm, you've misunderstood it.
It just replaces the rank by its name, all the Design, Intellect and Combat proceed by each rank in the MID RANK tier.
must of used the wrong vocabulary

| Alright, then my only criticism is that either it will be too hard to be promoted (i.e. academy too inefficient or it's just plain too hard) or too easy (leading to a huge surge of certain ranks - something similar happened in VS once forcing a mass demotion as getting to 1st lt. was too easy). |

| Either way still a very solid system, the only way my issues can truly be determined is by trial and error - no system can work perfectly from the first day. |

Indeed.
We did get a bit of criticism for a while in the previous rank systems during the beginning, but I believe it's because we didn't get used to it. |

Occupying 18 ranks... is that really the best idea? Some of them have very minor distinctions, and trying to make decisions in terms of ranking up becomes much harder, especially at lower ranks.
Also, unless I'm wrong, there are only 19 ranks available for use; if those divisions between levels on your last list are supposed to be dividers masquerading as ranks, then it can't be done that way.
Otherwise, seems like a solid plan. |

Catblox, it makes the trainings run smoother, as most of the time, non-Variantaria tier ranks hardly show up, making it hard for me to teach them new things or to promote people.
Only Enlist and Mid-Ranks will be trained out of the Main Division, which seems to be a bit of a small issue concerning activity, but if we trial it, we can see the outcome and take some parts to improve. Maybe we can host 'Mid-Rank' trainings only, and ignore the academy.

"Maybe we can host 'Mid-Rank' trainings only, and ignore the academy."
A better solution would be to separate the skill training (Variantia) and use it as a component for ranking up in the main group.
Say a member trains in the Academy in the Combat track, and they achieve a Combat 1 standard. That could be considered a rank up in the main group, and would be translated accordingly.
The only issue would be that there has to be some sort of a way to track all the means of ranking up. A system for that could be developed, but that would fall to Urban Development, not you, and it would be a matter of them being able to create and implement that system in sync with the rank system... |

We have a problem in UD right now, with the lack of scripters, which means it would be quite hard to create a 'database' of this.
But one flaw with the Variantia skill tier is that members are not taught leadership skills, which is a key point in becoming a High Rank, so it's easier to have a choice by joining the academy, following the trainings or taking the Varantaria tier section.
Academy trainings won't just involve Combat, it teaches leadership and hard discipline, plus advanced combat skills, incase you're not capable of taking the Variantia tier . |
