Game Info : http://www.roblox.com/Forum/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=89118161
Anyway, as you have read in that game, it is going to be in a radically different style, compared to most roblox games, yet I still want the game to be a success among all demographics of robloxians.
I want it to be something that can interest little kids, due to it's cartoony appearance and character design, but also something that older member's of roblox will like, due to it's humour and game play.
So, as I have posted this here, I would appreciate some feedback on the following features I am considering putting in game, once I start production on it (currently, I'm crafting it's storyline)
FEATURES I AM CONSIDERING :
1. Cel Shading. Things like the characters, enemy's, and weapons have a bold black outline, similar to TheProfiter's "Sword Fight of Imagination".
2. Screen Tint Health Gui : Instead of having a standard health bar, your screen tint changes when you are low on health (it turns to red, and when your health regenerates, it slowly goes back to normal)
3. Multiplayer Minigames : While the game is pseudo single player (think how bluetaslems Portal game achieves this effect by loading all it's parts locally), it would be very interesting for players to interact in multiplayer minigames.
4. Section Seperation : A lag reduction measure, this seperates each level of the game into a section, only loading parts from that area. Once you go into another level, all the parts from the previous area are deleted, and the parts in the new area are loaded. While this may sound good, a loading screen has to be implemented, as level's will load slightly longer than usual.
5. Foreign Language Subtitles : Because of the games heavy storyline nature, and the worldwide user base of roblox, I think it is important that players can toggle to choose the language the cutscene subtitles are presented in. Player's could toggle between English, Spanish, French, and Mandarin Chinese (the most spoken languages in the world). I am reluctant to implement this, as it would be very time consuming, and would delay release of the game by a few months.
Thanks for reading this (incredibly) long post. Sorry if some parts of this post were not clear enough, as it seems today my head is in a fog. Thanks for taking your time, and thanks for the feedback ! |

To me, a feature like that is really...overused. |

@rage
Not on roblox though.
And it also takes less screen space for roblox mobile user's (even though I doubt they will be able to play this game) |

I might sound a little annoying but I want to get the point across.
I'm aware it isn't used much on Roblox, but it is used in many other places, such as pretty much all Fps games set in modern time. Also, isn't this whole blood/damage gui a little unfriendly to kids, as you have mentioned them to be who you are building for.
Maybe they jump up and disappear, or even they fly backwards in slowmo and the screen fades to black or white even when they 'perish'. Or if it fits with the story, maybe the screen starts to fade away into darkness or light.
forgot le sig :) -Do not summon me again!- |

Perhaps instead of the health being represented by the screen tint or gui, maybe the character could start limping when their health is low, and then pass out when their health is depleted ?
Does this sound better ? |
