K was actually derived from the Bolivian word for Kougalirian which means plenty of money
When the Bolivians moved from Bolivia to The Republic of Wyoming, they taught the pioneers un kouralirian, which meant one thousand.
The pioneers wrote this down on a rock with a stick and traveled to the Republic of Canada to show King Dauferdouss what they had found.
The king could not read the entire word on the rock, so he read un k, which was all that showed.
He told his messenger, Galvius Lerduious Mernifiouceioljlsourhfs to tell the Sire of NewFoundLand to put this word in the Canadian dictionary, and the messenger went off to do so.
The messenger forgot how to spell it, so he told the Sire "un k", which sounded like 1k. The Sire wrote that down.
The book was thrown into the ocean by the Sire's dog, and was found on the east coast of the U.S. and therefore from then on 1k has been used.
True story, ask Wikipedia
Good huh!? :D |
