| All parts can be identified by using the base class 'BasePart', so is there a base class for meshes? |

They're called superclasses, and yes, there is one. The DataModelMesh includes FileMeshes (which include SpecialMeshes), BlockMeshes, CylinderMeshes, and BeverlMeshes.
Just note that the DataModelMesh is uncreatable.
