Because in a sense, America woke up to the reality of terrorism. Never before had America experienced just how much of a problem terrorism is.
Besides many people dying, the economic effects of 9/11 are still being felt today, indirectly it has caused America to waste trillions of dollars for two wars, and really has ruined the economy in many ways.
Not only do economic problems in america just affect america, but they end up affecting much of the world. |

| Non-Americans care as it was a tragic event and because of that, many people are worried something like that could happen again. Also, conspiracists talk about it. |
