For Indie, get G-Mod or you could go and get Counterstrike -- Frosty! |

Civ IV > Civ V
Also if you are looking for indie go Cave Story+, Binding of Isaac and VVVVVV. Maybe even Super Meat Boy if you can plug in a controller USB or whatever. |

I really don't get Gmod, what do you really do?
Dishonored, I'll see if I can, I totally forgot about that one!
And yes, JC2 is really good. Definitely not plot wise and the missions are actually extremely hard. Even the first one, took me about 10 tries to get to mason's body. |

@Nos
It's -amazing-.
@Ace
You're telling me the missions are hard. I'm on the one with Tengh...
@thread
If you like hacky-slashy JRPGs, Ys Origins and Ys: The Oath in Felghana are MUSTS. |

One of the escort missions. You have to hijack a limo and drive it RIGHT THROUGH A FREAKING MILITARY BASE to get to the correct place. And the limo is VERY fragile. |

| That sounds awful! I only had to escort one guy, and he must of been the biggest idiot in the world, or he was really wanting to die (the word for it is blocked). He'd tell me to fight him off as he takes cover, he'll duck behind a box for a second, then when I take out one guy, he goes all Usain bolt and runs into the next guys shotgun. >.< |

| The reason it's so hard may be that I need more Armor Pieces and to upgrade my SMG. :\ |

dishonored is not worth $60
it's enjoyable, but it's short and a bit disappointing.
ANYWAY:
I HIGHLY recommend Mount & Blade: Warband. It's an open-world medieval RPG (No magic). First off, The entire game is unscripted, except for the very beginning. One playthrough, Swadia may conquer the Khergits. On another, The Nords can try world domination, but be pushed to a corner by all of the other factions forming an alliance. It goes on.
And meanwhile,you have to make your own story, and put effort to fulfill the role you want. Want to become a king/queen? Earn that right to rule. Want to be a bandit? Go raid some caravans. Want to be a mercenary? Go build some fame in tournaments and such, go up to a kingdom, and offer your service. Unless you are looking a special kind of work (Mainly for quests), you will rarely get a fetch quest, and they usually are very easy. Your reputation actually matters. Drunk men looking for a fight will suddenly realize who you are and leave the tavern. People will comment on how well-known you are. If you aren't already tied by oath to a kingdom (Or you are the king/queen), you will receive offers from a faction to join then. You can have more people in your party if you are well known. I never played as an evil dude, but to be honest there is no evil in Mount & Blade. It's the kind of game where everyone is just as bad as everyone else, and there is no strict good vs evil.
Currently I'm playing as a common man who became a local hero and tournament champion, in which the Khergits saw my usefulness and hired me as a vassal. I own a village and two castles, and helped push the Swadians back to their main cities, Praven and Suno. If I wanted to, I can defect to the Swadians and help them out at retaking Dhirim and Uxkhal. I could ignore the war and focus on my own personal gain. I could defect and start my own rebel faction, but it would probably be crushed immediately. There's a ton of freedom. Also the world is very dynamic. If you were to make a new character and sit inside an inn for 100-500 days, the world would be very different from what it started as. You aren't the god-king of everything where the world turns around you. You are nothing. The world turns on its own.
And meanwhile the combat is easy to learn, difficult to master. The battles are MASSIVE, going up to 200v200 (100v100 for multiplayer), with reinforcements/multiple battle stages if there are more. It sounds like it's a total mess, but it's not. It's a Paradox game, so you may expect bugs and crashes. It's actually more polished than most Paradox games. There is a decent economy. It's not on the level of some other games, but you can buy land to be used for production (I have a tannery which makes a small amount of denars per week), play on demands and such, and a bit more. There is a ton of replay value, since it's an emergent gameplay sandbox. JUST GET IT. Last M&B sale, I gave a copy to a friend and my brother, who didn't know anything about the game. They both LOVED it. GET IT. There are also mods that completely change the game. And an active multiplayer community. Dozens of hours (Some people have hundreds, a few have over 1000) of fun for less a lunch at a fast-food restaurant. GET IT. Ignore the Metacritic score. GET IT. Do I have to say it again? GET IT.
Also, about the other M&B games, The original is outdated, but has some good mods. With Fire and Sword is good (Not as great as Warband though), but playing it as a newcomer is a bad idea, as you will get one-shotted by firearms all the time.
TL;DR Mount & Blade: Warband is an epic open-world RPG which everyone even remotely interested should buy NOW.
Oh, and I forgot to mention a demo. A very generous demo. You can do ANYTHING in the game singleplayer, but after a certain level (i think 7), you can't proceed on. |

as much as i didn't like dishonored, DO NOT pirate it.
arkane deserves to be rewarded for trying something that is not a generic RPG or shooter, and for making such a great theme. also for bringing a long dead genre back to life. |

Now that I've had time to read that, I'm definitely giving the demo a go! Hopefully I won't be disappointed. |

| I'm not pirating anything, if it deserves to be downloaded, and for me to so much as try it, then somewhere, they did something good. They'd deserve my money. |
