| I've always wanted to see ROBLOX on Valve's Steam Client. One reason I think ROBLOX would benefit is because of the increased exposure, older people would see ROBLOX, and as a result, more people would try ROBLOX. There could also be Steam exclusive servers where only people with Steam can play. Game hubs would also benefit, giving ROBLOX users a place to congregate. ROBUX and BC can also be bought with Steam wallet funds. And finally, Steam Workshop would allow users to exchange models, scripts, and decals. |

The thing is, they don't really want older people to use this game.

@Igotgame102 But the admins are working on doing stuff for 13+ users, and doing it on Steam would indirectly segregate the community more. |

Instead of Steam workshop, why can't you have them edit with studio? A different editing thing could make an unfair advantage either way.

@ROBLOXT9 It would be, make in ROBLOX Studio, then upload to Steam Workshop through a button in Studio. |

No support. If you don't see most people playing Steam are about 15 to 25 or older.

| Absolutely terrible idea, nobody wants any braindead children on steam. We already have enough 7 year olds on tf2. |

| I guess that can be useful, cause I pretty much go on Steam almost everyday; playing TF2, Terraria, or working on projects in Garry's Mod. Might as well check out Roblox while I'm there. |

The thing is that most older people use steam and yes. A lot more older people use Roblox now. However, Roblox uses a site to get all their games and groups. If per say they made a GUI for steam that went straight into the games and group lists like they do for phones, Ipads etc etc. But there is no profit adding it on steam. Hence why it isn't on steam.

Steam takes a 30% cut of all profits made through games on Steam, and I doubt Roblox wants 30% of their profits from Steam being taken by Valve.
Notch, creator of Minecraft also said on his blog that, "Being on Steam limits a lot of what we’re allowed to do with the game, and how we’re allowed to talk to our users. We (probably?) wouldn’t be able to, say, sell capes or have a map market place on [Minecraft's website] that works with steam customers in a way that keeps Valve happy. It would effectively split the Minecraft community into two parts, where only some of the players can access all of the weird content we want to add to the game."
tl;dr, Steam takes profits away from Roblox and limits the way they can do things they already do.
No mistakes, just happy accidents. |
