1. Most horror movies are cliche and pointless 2. A horror movie franchise is the same movie over and over again, except at different locations. This is what I call money milking in a nutshell. 3. Promotes violence, murder, and gloom 4. Horror films can give you anxiety 5. When you're really scared, your heart beats really fast, and it's not good and produces a gloomy feeling |

1. Cliche, yes. Pointless? Maybe. 2. This would be pulling a Dead Space, and although at times it can suck, it can really work most of the time, as with Dead Space(ish) 3. No, THAT is most horror films today, they have unnessacary blood and gore. But in all seriousness, while it works 5% of the time, it is giving people the wrong idea of horror. Horror is a supernatural or unusual happenings in a form that makes audiences feel anxious (Addressing #4) or 'scared'. 4. You're supposed to. 5. If you want to get inside the human body with this, then okay. But if you get a good scare and feel depression or upsettion afterwards then you are thinking about it the wrong way.
Given most of your reasons, I take it you don't like to be scared. What you don't understand is that that's what makes it funner. The rest of the posts are horror cliche stereotypes, if possible, for horror movies. A slasher (Halloween Remakes, Friday 13th Remakes, Nightmare/Elm Street Remakes, Texas Chainsaws) is not horror, even if it likes to have jumpscares, which are NOT good horror. |

| I don't like getting "scared" per se, but I do enjoy getting thrilled in a way that increases my heart rate. However, games tend to be better than movies for that. |

@achillies
Right. That's why the first 4 Texas chainsaw films have 4 chainsaw kills in them all together. |

1. Most horror movies are cliche and pointless >even the cliche and pointless ones are fun to watch, but there are really great ones that aren't.
2. A horror movie franchise is the same movie over and over again, except at different locations. This is what I call money milking in a nutshell. >not exactly, even at the same location there can be different storylines.
3. Promotes violence, murder, and gloom >"gloom" is a feeling, i don't see how it could produce that. murder and violence also aren't produced by horror movies, those are extremely rare cases.
4. Horror films can give you anxiety >yes, for people who shouldn't watch them.
5. When you're really scared, your heart beats really fast, and it's not good and produces a gloomy feeling >it doesn't produce a gloomy feeling, it's rather exciting actually. gloom is what bad comedy movies produce. |

@OP's Statement 5
I agree. Everything's heart beats the same amount of times, it's the speed of hear rate that decides lifespan. Thus, if your heart is beating fast, you are wasting life time, however, the disagreeing people have a point too, because it's not much life, so certain people CAn enjoy it, moreover, I disagree with both sides, and made asolution so Number 5 doesn't have to be discussed. |

| Ever seen the movie "The Cabin in the Woods?" It takes the horror genre and deconstructs all of its cliches and tropes pretty brilliant. It's not very scary either, more of a very black comedy |
