If you would be immortal, You watch everyone around you, everyone you know and love grow old and die while you stay the same age, your family rots away leaving you all alone. Word gets out and everyday your lawn is packed with thousands of sick people and fearful people wishing you to grant them the same immortality that you have. They scratch on your door, knock on your windowsill, you never get a moment's peace. The government and crime syndicate get to you first however and. Every wealthy person realizes that your veins pump one thing they cannot buy, freedom of death. They capture you, bleed you, test you. Every day you become even more depressed and wish you could end it but it never comes, evolution turns you into a freak, your voice box cannot manage the complex sounds the new species makes, your digestive system cannot handle their food and because of Reproductive Isolation you are not able to create a new species. They put you in a zoo. You are being stared at and laughed at by these strange creatures, your head is full of thoughts yet there is no-one around for you to share them with. Wars take place and you become mutilated with the radiation, everyday is a vassal of pain and suffering. The zoo was hit by a massive shell sending tons of rock crashing down upon you. You are not strong enough to escape and nobody knows you are there, you cannot die but the pain you feel makes you wish that you would. You lie there for eons and your brain is still getting older. Alzheimer's is catching up with you, the memories are piling on top over the centuries, it is becoming too much for you too handle. When earthquakes and tsunamis wreck havoc on the world they finally free you from your prison, the sunlight is strong and you face a world you could never imaging, a nuclear waste land. Your once beautiful Earth has transformed to what the most sadistic science fiction writers could never imagine. But that is the least of your troubles, time is speeding up and you cannot escape from it. It is making you insane! The older you get the faster time seems to go. Each year of your cursed life seems shorter than the last, each year presents a smaller and smaller portion of your life. A minute will seem like less than a second, the woman you spent fifty years of your life with will seem as significant as the girl you dated for a few weeks in college, the older you get she'd be the nameless chick you made out with behind the lemon stand. People will just be exploding in and out of existence around you, everything will be a blur. And then, when the end of the world finally comes and our descendants scream you are glad its finally going to be over, but oh no, as our world ends you will find yourself floating in space with nothing to keep you company or give you relief. Everything that once was is now gone and you float in freezing, oxygen-less space for eternities to come. Was this what you wanted?

| Pretty sure the immortal can't repopulate, because it'd be pointless. |

| I would grant all my family members immortality. And, if people were crowding around my house, I'd just bring out a Desert Eagle. Who needs machine guns? :P |

I wouldn't mind. Besides, if would be worth it if you are strong enough. If the world ends, you can witness evolution and many various things. When mankind finally gets around to where it was before, you can lead everyone to a better future :D.
Then again I'm just looking WAAAY ahead. |

It's a weird feeling. I don't want to die, but I don't want to live forever either.

Because at the same time, you fear death, but also you don't want to witness your closest dying. |

No,I would NOT want to be immortal. Why would I want to live forever when the people and animals I love waste away? It would really stink. I would be stuck on Earth,no were to go,nothing to do. I would never see my family again. I would go through deppresion. That is why I never want to be immortal |

This would happen anyway. You would soon get used to the concept.

| Floating around in space after the world ends can be pretty cool when you think about it. You can see stuff like the big bang and watch the first stars be born (and stars are born when other stars explode AKA die) |

Floating around in space. I hope I wouldn't drift away to that Black Hole in the center of the Milky Way. Imagine not being able to die going through there. Your spine is being crushed, your limbs all but ripped off, your brain splattering all over the place, in the dark center of the black hole that not even light is fast enough to escape.
No, your other bottom! |

Of course, my post assumed that your head is still attached by the time you get to the center. Sorry about that.
