Takes pre-algebra in 8th grade. Most of you guys take it in 6th or 7th grade.

Pre-algebra is too easy. We're doing consumer math right now. Here's one of the problems we did today:
A Hollister shirt is $64. The tax is 5%. How much is the shirt after the taxes?

Consumer math is easy in my opinion. Like for tax, all you have to do is convert the tax rate % into decimal, then times the decimal by the original number. Then you add that to the original number. Or this method:
Shirt - $64 Tax - 35%
64x1.35= $86.40
OR
$64x0.35= 22.40+$64 = $86.40

@bawbby
I applied for the IB program for my high school for next year. They'll pretty much take you as long as you're like an A-B student.

@emily
It's just an example problem. The original problem in the notes was 3.5%, but I don't feel like going 1.0345x64 or anything because I wasn't thinking that much a few minutes ago.
