I personally think a ribbon interface would be nice. Now, I know a lot of you are Microsoft haters, and the brand itself makes you hate anything they make, but ribbon interfaces are pretty well liked.
Micrososft's qualifiers definitely do fit ROBLOX's need.
Here's what they say:
"What type of program are you designing? The program type is a good indicator of the appropriateness of a ribbon. Ribbons work well for document creation and authoring programs, as well as document viewers and browsers. Ribbons might work for other types of programs, but other forms of command presentation may be more appropriate. Generally, lightweight programs should have a lightweight command presentation. (For a list of program types, see the Program Command Patterns.)"
Generally, the current .net Microsoft framework that's being copied by ROBLOX isn't what I see as the correct way to do things. Studio 2.0 really isn't that much of an improvement, and a lot of users don't seem to appreciate it or even want to use it.
In fact, what do you think the correct interface for studio is? I dislike the toolbars, as it's hard to find commands in them. Here's a nice overview of what interface is for what...

Finally, Microsoft asks:
Is the improvement in discoverability, ease of learning, efficiency, and productivity worth the cost of the extra space and the need for tabs to organize commands?
I think yes. First of all, ROBLOX's toolbar's already take up a ton of UI space, and the fact is, users don't know where stuff is. I don't really like the tool bars, and a Studio really is about 10 years old as far as UI's go.
Basically, ROBLOX is trying to copy a .net interface that is about 10 years old. Can we please upgrade? What do you think? Also, do you think Studio 2.0 is a significant improvement at all? |

| Agreed. No matter how much it is argued whether it looks good or not, it's a Windows design aesthetic. |

| Let me point out that the current framework is also a windows design aesthetic that is 10 years older. Also, Tenal, what do you mean by "Agreed", what are you agreeing too? |

| The correct interface is the one I handcrafted myself to suit my needs. When will they get it right? |

Oh gosh. They removed 1.0. D:
Anyway, I kind of cringe at "Studio 2013"... |

Nonetheless it's miles better than Studio 2.0. 2.0 seems like a name made because they've failed us with the first one and want to redeem our happiness. If you know what I mean. |

| I didn't mean cringe at the name. I meant cringed at the software / 3% improvement (Gotta start somewhere?) |

| We have a prototype of a ribbon bar that RobloTim just put in. We're working on the location of the various buttons and controls to make it feel more intuitive and easier to use. |

| But ribbon makes everything look like it's all everywhere. The current look feels much cleaner and more organized. |

| It's because Roblox watched a bunch of ten years olds build using build not edit. |

| I can still use Studio 1.0 all I want. I somehow have both versions on my computer. |

| This is like the best idea ever. When you click on a part, properties show up in the ribbon bar (much like when you click a table in Office). Inserting bricks are one click away. etc. |

I agree completely. The amount of buttons we have doesn't merit a ribbon, in my opinion. Microsoft made a good decision in having a ribbon for Office, as it doesn't take an awful amount of time to get used to and there are so many options and buttons, it would be UI-hogging to have it all in one area.
I don't believe putting everything in a ribbon would be effective. Navigating a ribbon means some things are more than one click away, meaning users spend precious attention time trying to find something.
I guess it would work out better for people with small screens, but I am not one of those people. 720p and lower screens would see a great benefit from a ribbon bar, but higher definitions can handle all the UI space singular buttons take up. |

| Even if you can use Studio 1.0, stop using it. It's officially outdated and won't be maintained. |

they shud add hotkeys for the different tabs if you need 2 tools from different tabs a lot.
Or even better, allow customization
Even better, allow us to code the whole interface with Lua and GUIs. |

Honestly I wouldn't mind seeing Metro UI being used for Studio. I find Metro's simplicity very pleasing.

| It wasn't cross platform, and much more recently, it didn't reset the scene properly and changes in scripts didn't revert. |
