"An" in the English language doesn't really have any hard and fast rules for usage any longer. At one point in time your post would be valid, but for the past couple hundred years it's eroded to the point where the general rule to follow is "when it sounds right".
Say it out loud. "A RP". "An RP". The latter sounds better, so it is considered more correct. |
