Hey guys,
I want to talk about Honor. I think our society has a serious lack of it, and most of us don't even know what it is, so I just wanted to talk about it! In order to understand Honor, you need to know two points. The first point is that Honor is given, not earned. Giving or showing someone honor simply means treating them higher than yourself, treating someone or something as greater than average. I believe Honor should be shown to those who deserve it, who don't, and even those who never will.
Okay, so we now know that we can and should show honor to people, not because they've earned it, but because we simply want to treat them highly.
Next we need to know who to show honor to. Everyone's heard about the commandment that calls us to "honor your father and mother" (Exodus 20:12), but for me, that's sometimes the hardest thing to do. Our society is really great at showing honor to strangers and bosses, but not to our own famies or closest friends. Familiarity is the worst enemy of Honor. For some reason it's a lot harder to show Honor to those who are closest to us, but in reality, showing Honor begins at home. We are truly called to love and show Honor to others, no matter if they're close to us or we want to impress them because they're strangers.
Don't believe me? Check out Romans 12:10
OT, my question to you today is:
Who do you need to show Honor to in your life?
If you guys have any questions, comments, or concerns, just PM me please!
Love you all, - Vulcan |
