Bioshock series (extremely dark) Fallout games (preferably 3 because of the atmosphere) Skyrim, if you join the Dark Brotherhood (and Oblivion too, but I haven't joined yet) Alan Wake

most of these games aren't 'dark' in the slightest
also violent =/= dark
try Heavy Rain for an actual dark plot |

let's not do this argument, it's just boring and it'll waste our time
if you don't hit triggers and move the character (as simplistic as it is), you would not make progress. You need to 'play' the 'game' to move on, so technically speaking it has gameplay or you wouldn't progress |
