No, no, this isn't Assassin's Creed. No Templars here. (I say this to stay on-topic)
If I had a nickel everytime someone has mistaken me or Mikey for a Templar, I'd have...more nickels than I usually would.
But still, we are crusaders. Templars were bad. All the Crusaders did was march into a land that we thought was holy and killed all the citizens living there for not being the same religion as us. We're innocent!

templar knights had white mantles with red crosses
which is what you are wearing
so i'm kind of confused here
also the templar knights were one of the largest (if not the largest) contributor to the crusades |

@Meldo
I thought the red cross was just a sign of Crusader Knights, not just Templars. (???)

The Red Cross on a white tabard is a sign specifically reserved for Templars as far as I know. Other crusaders used a red or white cross on a black tabard. |

Templars weren't that bad anyways, they were just holy knights.

@congo
they were pretty bad actually
aside from invading a country and committing genocide against it's inhabitants they were also very corrupt on their western frontier of europe |

@Meldo True. But also compare that to other terrible things at the time, by comparison, the Templars didn't do too much "evil".

that doesn't really excuse everything they did, though? |

I think Templars had a green cape or something on their shoulders instead of mail. I can only tell the difference when I look at pictures of both. They both have a red cross.
Ooh, ya hear that, lads? He says we'll blunt the knives! |

@mikey
What they had on their shoulders depends on their role. But all templar soldiers had a red cross on a white tabard. |

Never mind, crusaders had green capes and a Templar had a white cape with a red cross. Both Templars and Crusaders had a red cross on a white tabard.

Also Templars usually carried shields and wore helmets. From the pictures of Crusaders I've seen, Crusaders wear mail on their heads but leave the face exposed.

@mikey
pictures aren't the most reliable source of information
again, it depends on what rank and role the templar was to determine his gear |
