Base camp was dreary. This operation was supposed to take a few hours, but it was dragging on. Arcadians barely managed to keep themselves awake after being awake all of last night, on their toes for the assault. The morning has heavy with a thick gray smog that obscured vision to 0 feet. There was a light drizzle, which made the small bonfires they had lit look spectacular. Chow was being passed out; thin, grey stew, with a side of purified ocean water and small packets of salt. Michal Audax thought to himself, "How the hell do we even stomach this stuff?" Although horrified by their meals, all of the Arcadians remained as alert as could be.
On Ayhrakk, one lone native came out to speak with the Arcadians. Presenting himself in a rather formal manner, he went on to explain that he was the de facto leader of this settlement. "So, why are you here? I have never seen people come from the stars." He said, in a raspy, dry voice. Most of the Arcadians there were Officers, namely, Tmohs, Sheoboroc, and Josh Antagonist. Sheoboroc spoke first. "We hail from Arcadia, a planet not far away. We are here on official business of The Grand Imperium. It has come to our Emperor's attention that your planet has become prone to a large-scale invasion from CER, or formerly UCR. Plans have been discovered depicting the slaughter of your entire race, and we're here to stop that. With your permission, we would like to set up several Imperial outposts in this area; we will provide defensive support for you."
Sisco's screw was on a rampage. As Supremus rumbled through CER's anti-air fortress, rocketing away at any vital parts, namely the actual anti-air flak cannons, Sisco's excitement grew. Incidia's fear of his frantic behavior faded. They were doing Arcadia a great service by eliminating the cannons that had taken the lives of so many, and have been untouched for years. This would certainly be an Imperial milestone. Although her fear of her own leader faded, she somehow felt as if none of the crew would survive. The frightening thing about this is, is that she is right. None of Sisco's crew escapes Orion.
Inductive's very large squad was retreating from the inner fortress very rapidly. Having already exited the waterfall and made it atop the ridge, they already had visual on base camp. Azar Vallorn drew his radio from his equipment pack, and contacted Michal Audax. "Get all of the equipment packed up. Evidence is planning on slaughtering all of us. We have ten minutes to escape, at the very most." Audax was shocked. This seemed vaguely like the invasion he had come to be recognized for; an overwhelming number of Vaktovians had descended upon RAT's Fort Celeste, tearing the fortress apart piece by piece. He was practically the sole survivor. Regaining his composure, he began shouting orders at the top of his lungs. "GET ALL OF YOUR EQUIPMENT TO THE SHORELINE! WE'RE RETREATING, BOATS WILL BE DEPLOYED MOMENTARILY!" The base camp quickly transformed from a boring array of tents to a bustling center of attention. Troops moved as fast as they could; packing up their weapons, rations, and their clothing. Roughly five boats opened their hatches, having been dropped earlier for an escape route. Lugging their equipment aboard, the Arcadians could do nothing but wait.
Fires blazed, smoke trailed from the sky. The once prominent anti-air fortress had been reduced to an unrecognizable hunk of rubble. Slowly lifiting the extremely heavy hatch and sliding it over, Sisco's crew practically erupted from the tank. Cheering and congratulating each other on their accomplishment, none of them noticed the incoming horde. Incidia was the only one to notice. Jeremiah Cerulea caught the same gaze she did; a crazed horde of blood-thirsty CER. Sisco and his other crew member were the last to catch the glimpse. With supreme respect for his higher-ranking officer, Cerulea nodded to Sisco, signalling for him to get out of here. Incidia and Cerulea would make a valiant stand against a savage horde, but they would not survive.
