1. >>KINDLY<< redirect them to Scripting Helpers. Anger will only grow stubbornness and unanswered questions. 2. Make a sticky with the title along the lines of 'This is not the place to ask scripting questions!'
Honestly, my solutions are so straightforward that I am awfully confused as why the options are too make the forum private (which is one of the worst things that can ever happen to this forum ever) and/or whitelisted (this should be an open forum, not a closed one. Facebook is perfect evidence this doesn't work) |

A little popup that says "This is for intelligent discussion only, if you're looking for help go to Scripting Helpers."
And maybe add some rules onto that. |

| There is the issue that a lot of these fools don't actually listen when we tell them where to go. I actually said really kindly once that this was the wrong forum and the OP bumped it... |

| Or a message above the 'message' and below the 'title' saying 'This is not a forum for scripting help! Go to scripting helpers!' |

@pre Answer their scripting question and then tell them to go to SH next time. |

| Do they come back later? I think that it's a rare occurrence if they do. Mostly, there are just new people asking for help here every day. If anyone did come back, it's because some of them try to intentionally bother us. In the other cases, it would be because they forgot, but that doesn't happen often. |

Here's the solution to 'spam':
- Redirect them to the right place (free models, scripting helpers, etc.)
- Answer their question if you can: the thread has already been made, you might as well save them the trouble. Don't worry about them constantly coming back here, most of them time it's a genuine mistake which they won't repeat.
- If they're intentionally spamming/trolling, report and do not post.
- Start posting in scripting helpers: People coming here because they're not getting help is a direct consequence of you not posting there. If you're not willing to help, you don't get to complain. Especially since you're one of the few who can. (I don't know if this is much of a problem anymore) |

@brandonhare Perhaps making a set with a bunch of simple scripted objects such as lava bricks and leaderboard scripts and then linking people to it would be a good idea. |

| I'm working on a game for scripters (about hacking and stuff), and I thought it'd be fun to include a "learn to script" mode, where you have to solve challenges and advance levels with the scripting skills you learn. |

It would be nice if we had a team of scripters who could lock these threads, and give warnings to more mature players.
Like, if somebody posted asking for help, you told them where to go, and they didn't reply again then that's fine. But otherwise it's locked.
I am sure it would stop a lot of complaints. |

@brandon Sounds fun, PM link when done please. If it is going to loadstring the source you put in make sure to sandbox it or clear the env to prevent exploiting it. |

| The problem in most cases isn't that they don't know about scripting helpers. The problem is that they think they're more likely to get a more quality answer here because it's discussion about advanced scripting. |

| Well, or they think that in scripting helpers no one helps. That's actually popular myth. |

your idea sucks, that won't help at all, don't you think if they actually read the stickys or even the titles they would already know not to post? also, kindly asking them will only make them feel comfertable of coming back |
